April 16th - Litter Clean Up of Surf Fishing locations

All,
Looking for some volunteers that are willing to help clean-up some of our shoreline access areas on Saturday April 16th. There is a clean-up all around the state's shoreline that is being sponsored by RISAA among others.
Our club, the Newport County Salt Water Fishing Club, will be cleaning access to the surf fishing areas off of Newport's Cliff Walk. Anyone that volunteers will get some very valuable info about parking and casting in the Newport Area. All volunteers will also get a "Newport Surf Fishing Map" with the local names of the various locations.
If your interested please contact me by phone, email or PM.
Volunteers will meet at the Salt Water Edge Tackle shop between 8:30 - 9:00 am. Clean-up will run until noontime or so. Bring gloves, tick repellant. Bags will be provided. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

First of all, a big WELCOME ABOARD ! to Mrs. Crafty. Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day on the shoreline...a great day to put something back by taking something out ,and a chance to do some early season scouting too.

It was great seeing everyone today.

A couple of thoughts about the clean-up...

1. Styrofoam should be illegal.
2. Lobster pots should have a serial number and $25 deposit - so that if they wash up on shore, people could haul them away and collect a few dollars.

Joe thanks for the door-prizes... can't wait to use them.

Thanks to all for the spot burning.
