Question not a lot of big fish south shore of ma. ?

i have been live lining macks for 3 days now from miniots to boston light nothing to show for it but a couple of dropped fish and they were most likely smaller fish short on brains big on guts . how is every else doing ? now don't go hooting and hollering im am not looking for spots just wondering if anyone is doing good , chit/chat on the raido does not sound good . thought this would be my best chance around here for my big fish of the year , it was last year

It was quiet today, see my reply in the boaters thread.

Trolled swimming plugs at High Pine Ledge (Duxbury Beach) friday evening and caught a bunch of 25 to 27 inch cod fish, some with their mouths full of tiny crabs. They were stuffing themselves like bluefish.
No stripers. Didn't see any quality baitfish, either.

Water temps?

Blue,

I was out Friday and Saturday live-linig the macks in the same general area. On Friday we tried Saquish rip in Plymouth Bay after having no success outside. Didn't get anything, but had a couple of drops and saw some schoolies working under some small baitfish.

On Saturday, I had two other buddies with boats out of Green Harbor. No trouble finding the macks, but still no ocean action. Went inside the mouth of the North River for bass of 30" & 35", and a couple of drops. Not much to brag about, but better than nothing.

My guess - we were consistently reading water temps just barely above 50 degrees in the ocean, but in the mid-fifties inside. The bass may be hanging in the rivers and bays until temps go up???

"Time and tides wait for no man", ... and neither do the fish.

Blue Oyster,

I haven't been doing well with the ocean mac trolling lately either. Last 3 times out either nothing or smallies. Did well chunking mouth of North river last Wed. 25 fish only 2 keepers and one 40+ inch following in a rat.

Sunday was outside the river and had Iwannakeeper with me and we were 3 miles out trolling macs in deep water. He caught a 10 pound cod in 57 feet of water on his live mac. nice fish.

Blues showed up at the 21 yesterday. Mcs should be gone soon.

Joe,

Not since last Wed. have I gotten keepers. Sat with you all 3 or 4 smallies. Tim and I didn't even catch a smallie Sun evening, just some macs and cod.
