Need more candy!

In anticipation of the msba show (huge understatement - I've actually chewed most of my fingers off) what kind of lures would you guys suggest for early season down the Cape? Would most of your picks for fall lures ( bombers, needles, etc.) produce as well for the start of the season? Gracias and hope to meet some of you guys at the show ( not BM, he SCARES me).

I fished the MSBA tri- state tourney last year down the cape. One of the guy's in our group did real well, catching several keepers on olive/ broken-back mombo mino's, ( well into the night ). At the time they're feeding heavy on sand eels...the mino's match the hatch.

Mark, some of the best early season lures, are all pearl shads, with a teaser rig. These will ultimately produce the most fish as the water is still cool early in the spring. We should have fish down there this year with the weather the way its been, I would hope by about the 2nd week in April.

As time goes by after that, Chrome creek chubs, gag's Mr Bunker poppers will work great, along with the olive mambo. Oh and don't forget about those early blue's that will be around. If you run into them. All green, and orange/white Robert's ranger. Don't forget your steel leaders!!!!

Hope this info helps.

Mark,
One of the hottest plugs/lures all year long on the outer cape was a Bomber Long A 17 Yellow/White Belly with the rear hook changes to a single SIWASH Yellow Tail Hook. However, this color has been discontinued by Pradco in the 17A.

Fortunately, we at Weekapaug Bait & Tackle have found about 70 of them. Hopefully, there will be some in Mr. Hab's booth at the show, if we get them in on time.

We will try to offer these as a sponser special to the Striped-Bass.com members once they arrive. Details to follow shortly.

Hey Jenn, just don't book anything in May cause you are gonna be a little busy, in your neoprene dress!!!!

Mark if you make it to the show, stop by and we would be glad to go over some lures and stuff with ya and show you what we usually have in our surf bags.

That goes for anybody here!!! Baitcaster and I are always willing to help.
