Any input on this reel guys before i buy it? I already had a shimano 4500B and I was planning to test this reel on a 9' TICA rod.

Stick with the Shimano. It'll outlast that Captiva for sure.

the captiva is an r away from craptive. and IMO penn is alot like SONY, the high end stuff is good, but the low end is garbage.
I'm with bigbo go shimano or go with a penn SS model.

I love the smoothness of the shimano 4500B I'm doing bait fishing lately and this reel outsmart all my buddy when I'm setting the hook no pain at all and no hassle of tightening your drag when you get a hit.

Well I was planning to try the Captive Liveliner if it's the same smoothness as the shimano baitrunner that's why I'm asking from other member who owned a penn captiva liveliner.

captiva

I got a very close look at a Captiva at one of the fishing shows (we took it apart) and it is nothing close to the Penn SS Liveliners. The money makes it tempting but I ending up buying the Penn 5600 Liveliner.

I actually like the Penn better than the Shimanos due to it's smaller body size. However, the live lining drag is purely manual (that is, it doesn't engage when you turn the reel handle).

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
