Thumbs up NCSFC meetig last night...

Last night's guest at the Newport County Saltwater Fishing Club, Jim White, had an impressive show on soft plastics.

His presentation showed a few interesting tricks & tips that could be done on soft plastics - like creating a small popper nose to fit just ahead of a FinS or sluggo and the action that it would create. It was one of those shows that is less of the "Go here with this wind and troll @ 20ft" and more of sparking the thought process to be a little more creative and applying THAT to fishing... I enjoyed they show...

After the show, we tried to steal Iron Mike's beaten and old plugs that he'd just picked up....

Bass Pro used to sell floating rubber popper heads, which looked like big 1 oz texas rigged sinkers...shape wise. You could rig them one way to pop them and the other to work like a floating texas rigged sinker to guide your offering through cover or for a floating but less noisey presentation.

This was a different rig, used like you would on a Creek Chub. It had the concave popper face you would see on a popping fly but was only 3/4 of an inch long with the plastic right behind it. Very interesting concept but surely wouldn't be known for it's casting abilities....
