What's the strangest item you've ever 'landed'?
We've all been there,, seemingly hung up on the bottom,, but after a few good pulls you end up hauling in some lost 'treasure' that the ocean decided to give back.
> This article in the globe talks about a wallet lost 39 years ago recovered!
What's the strangest / most interesting item you've hauled out?

I didn't land it, but I saw a guy fight and eventually land a 6' diameter beach umbrella once---fully open--in the moving water of Fire Island inlet.
He thought he had the mother of all rays. He walked over two miles to land the sucker.

When I was a teenager I was out with my buddy Gerry in his 14ft skiff when he hooked into something huge while trolling...........a sunken 5 gal. bucket.
A fairly common item but the excitement was intense up intil that point when we saw the bucket.

I caught some very strange looking rocks (snagged them with a cod jig)
Giant basket starfish, tires (thought I had a halibut)
I watched a guy (on a party boat) loose a good fish, about 30 seconds later
I hooked a good one too. 18 pound wolf had the other guys jig still firmly attached to its upper jaw (I gave the guy back his jig and when the boat moved, I showed him how to tie an improved clinch knot)
lobsters, parts of gill nets, giant musels with 20 foot strands of kelp attached, fishing rod with reel (squidder) attached, cod heads (body bit off by sharks)... there must be some other stuff

I watched Don Willis land a small skiff once, in the Canal, that had broken away from whatever it was tied to.
Pretty good endorsement for how strong an Arra 126 1MH is

The strangest item I ever landed
My thumb with a trebble hook from a deep diver a few weeks that had a
F!*#ing dogfish on it doing a charter with Capt. Mike a few weeks ago!!!
I reeled up what we believed to be whale bones while cod fishing a few times!

Herring run this year I caught a "fish" with a red light on its head. Well maybe that "fish" caught itself.
Caught about 100ft of wire with a jig and the fish still attached to the jig in CC Bay.

That cinder block had to be rough. Pantys are always good to catch.

While fluke fishing, my friend hooked into what we thought was a dormat and we were right. Pulled up a large welcomemat.

I have intentionally snagged plugs I've lost before...
