Scary Thought
We're being conditioned into thinking that 2.60/gallon is a good deal... I had forgotten what fuel prices were during last year's fall run...
from www.rhodeislandgasprices.com
Rhode Island USA
Today 3.207 3.054
Yesterday 3.184 3.05
One Week Ago 2.930 2.851
One Month Ago 2.436 2.349
One Year Ago 1.896 1.832
The rhode island average has gone up ~70% in 365 days
or approximatly $0.25/week
Online I found inflation rates are ~3.17% or so...
Just got to thinking about the people making minimal/low wages who have to commute while I was filling up this AM...

When I got my first car, regular unleaded was under a buck a gallon. Those were the days...

Ah, you kids
When I got my first car, it was around 35 cents a gallon, and we thought that was high because a few years before it had been under a quarter.
You pulled into a station, said "2 dollars worth", got 8 gallons, Green Stamps and a free drinking glass.
They didn't even ask if you wanted your oil checked--just went ahead and did it. Washing the windows went without saying. While under the hood, he'd also check and fill (if needed) your radiator and battery, tranny fluid if you had an automatic, power steering fluid and maybe even the master cylinder.

Glasses and gas
Ya Nib and Mike P......our family drank out of those brown glasses for years. My first 64 chevy got $.28 a gallon gas. It would be nice to see the permitting process for new refineries loosened and for the feds to tell all the refineries adversaries to jump in the lake.

So how many of you brushed your teeth with salt until they fell out and were replaced by wooden teeth, kinda like George Washington? I remember toothpaste always being around.
