Anybody else like fishing in cold weather?
Nobody likes warm weather more than me but there's something about fishing in
chilly weather like last night and this afternoon.Maybe its because the season is close to the end or maybe at any moment the bass might start blitzing. All I know is I like being out in the crisp, chilly air throwing plugs.
It helps having the right gear like thermals and decent gloves etc.I've also been on a pretty decent run since last Friday, nothing big but I've caught fish every time out which makes things easier.

I love it
I was out at the canal last night, barely slept the night before so I had to head out shortly after I got there because I wasnt feeling great, but it was a BEAUTIFUL night. Cold, Crisp... Nice.
Fall in general is the best.

Didn't see any rats the other night Swimmer. For a while there there were lots of them and pretty fearless at that.
I def like the colder weather better for fishing much easier to stay warm than it is to stay cool.

Cold weather is when this Planet show's you that it owns yer arse. It also makes for some truly, beautrifully silent evenings. Ever stood on yard thick ice Twenty miles from anywhere on a crystal clear midnight? Humbling.

Swimmer plenty of rats left. I watched a cat grab one near the canal camp ground on Friday - the rat was as big as the cat.
lots of big black snakes there also. I was fishing near the highbanks and a huge black snake slithered across the banking, surprised the heck out of me. Anyone know how to get a hook into one of them big fellas. i bet that would be some fine bait.

I hate snakes too. Eel's are ok but snakes give me the creeps.

I don't mind the cold but torrential rain is miserable, like tonight. Cut the fishing time down.

I love the cold Crisp air. This is my favorite time of year regardless of whether I'm Fishing or Not.
Haven't seen any rats there yet but I did see a deer near the Canal on Wednesday. It was hanging out on the side of the road about 2 miles down from the Shell station.

I wasn't quite dressed warm enough yesterday, lasted long enough to make the deck of the boat look like a peanut bunker explosion took place there, but after a while I was chilled to the bone. I love the cold, in just don't like rain and cold, add wind and spray; it's a bit much for me.

Quick change
Before the storm I was still wet wading without a problem. Last night I had to break out the gloves.... to go along with the three layers of thermal stuff, winter hat, and what have you to go under the rain gear. Stayed warm though. I think wet wading is only associated with smaller fishes, so the cold must (or should) mean bigger (and better) things are afoot. Gota love that!

I like the cold;
Probably cause I grew up with Blackfish season being like F'ing christmas; we live for the last 2 weeks of Nov and the first 2 weeks of Dec....
Always feels better fishing in the cold... downside is more wear and tear on your body (hands) etc... trying to type after a day catching blackfish in Dec is a trying ordeal...
