True - it was not the ultimate in Pink Floyd as the only true Floyd has Waters and my favorite Floyd would have Waters and Gilmour... But sometimes you must make the best of what's available and if the best of what is available is better than the rest?.....
(however, if you have seen Floyd live, pre-Gilmour, allow me hold your surf rod while you use the surf cane to get up on your rock )
The Hooters show was actually pretty cool as there were only a few hundred people there. Much more like a jam at Harper's Ferry than a stadium concert....

Unquestionalby the best was the Stones at Toad's Place in New Haven. The show wasn't scheduled, but a few of us got "the word" and showed up on a Sunday night. They locked the doors at 10 and the announcer said "ladies and gentlemen the rolling stones!" Three and half hours later and most of could hardly walk or hear!

Too many and too much self enduced ambience to remember all. Highlights - Zappa in Providence, Tull -many places, Steel Pulse - Music Hall, Larry Carlton, Molly Hatchett, SeaLevel, Dixie Dregs- Paradise, Atlanta Rhythm Section - Orpheum, Outlaws and Thin Lizzy - Cape Cod Coliseum, The Who, with moon, Boston Garden, Pat Metheny - Berkley, And of course my 5 year old daughter on piano in my living room yesterday. Now that I sit and try to remember them I really can't say I liked one more than another.

I saw Fishbone in a free show at Golden Gate Park, it was a pro-hemp festival @ 1995. It was a great show, great crowd and the look on tourists face as they exited the Japanese Gardens and saw all the freaks and hippies smokin up in public was priceless.
Second was Buddy Guy at the Mist in Matunuck, I was right in front of the guitarist that influenced Hendrix, Beck, Clapton and countless others. A few times I thought I would go deaf when he was bending high notes.

Saw Counting Crows and live at the greek theater in Berkeley, Ca. on my honeymoon in 2001. I think you could see the bee gees at the greek and it would be too cool. Great place to hang out and see a show. Other than that, the Dead at the Meadowlands in 87.

The above concert was back in the day.
More recently I saw Chris Robinson and New Earth Mud ( his post Black Crowes band) open for Warren Haynes and Gov't Mule at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, Nov. 2004
An awesome 4+ hour show.

Eric Clapton
I have been to every clapton concert in the boston area since 1987.
The best one being 2004 at tweeter center. I saw both shows and one I was 8 rows from the stage. Absolutely amazing from that close up. He dug out some really old ones including "got to get better in a little while" which he played like he was on fire.
His 90 and 92 tours were spectacular too.
I also saw Eric Johnson at the Paradise Rock Club in boston in 2004.
He is also an amazing guitar player. Good thing I brought my ER-20's
(high fidelity earplugs), because that was the loudest concert I have ever been to. As the old saying goes, I never travel without them.....
Eric

Early 80’s King Crimson on the pier in NYC and ASIA in a (supposedly) acoustically perfect auditorium in the middle of Iowa.

Iceman,
I don't think there were anywhere near 300 of us there during the show. Afterward maybe, there were a lot of folks out on the street that showed up after they locked the doors.
