Well, the fishing was good, but the catching not so good

I got to Natasket a little later than I had hoped. As I pulled up to scout around, I noticed two seperate schools of what looked like bluefish breaking, and thrashing around. Quickly got all my gear together and ran down to the surf. Waded out until I was almost chest deep, trying to cast to these breaking fish, but they were just out of reach Remember ther thread about the importance of casting distance Well, I could have used some more distance last night. The fish stayed around for at least 30 minutes mercilessly teasing me. I stayed for a few hours after that casting but no luck.

Stripers are called Rockfish from Delaware south for a good reason, they like rocks! So with that in mind, what are the two prominently "rocky" sections of Nantrashket?

First Map - See that first point (not the rocky outcropping - that's a swim) where Atlantic Hill meets Nantasket? Fish that at night with plugs & eels (and Korkers & Waders) with a moving tide. That furthest rock is only available on the bottom half of the tide and you'll get cut off at high...

Second Picture ... shows where the beach meets the rocks, right around that restaraunt at the end of the parking lot

Check it out during the day at both High tide & Low tide to get an impression for the spot - and then fish it at night

The force runs strong with you Luke, errrr Gene, BUT LISTEN TO THE JEDI MASTAH! . Seriously, all I'll say and I won't post it again , is look harder at the south side of Nantrashket. Allerton is good and I know quite a few that do well but you have better structure that is more adaptable to greater ranges of tide on the south side. I'm not giving up my honey holes by saying this, but go south young man

Hey John, I'm thinkin' about scouting one of those spots after work one night soon... I'll give you a report. I'm looking for big things this season after a bit of an off year.
