Hi Everyone

Hi John, hi everyone,
I'm not sure if you remember me, I would occasionally post about 3 years ago. I asked a couple of silly questions and got my butt reamed by the infamous Mr. Bill "#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" Nolan. He eventually took pity on my ignorance and offered to take me out and show me the ropes. Turned me onto my first keeper. He was very active with the board then. I changed jobs right after that and found myself with very little time to do any fishing at all. I only made it out twice last year. I've decided to make a real effort at putting aside a little bit of "me" time this year and managed to make it out half a dozen times already. 4 fish so far with one keeper-32".
Not a record by any stretch of the imagination, but good for me.
I've always kept this site on my favorites list and even when I didn't have the time to get out there myself, I have enjoyed reading about everyone else's exploits. I've also noticed that the site has changed a lot in the past 3 years. It looks great. I was wondering though, where is the recipe section? When I got my fish home and was looking on the internet for recipes, you should have seen some of the crazy things they have out there. "Rock fish pate", "cream of rock fish soup"-yuck, not really what I was looking for. I ended up putting the filets in a glass baking dish and covering them with thick sliced tomatoes with oregano, freh crushed garlic, salt , pepper and olive oil. It was great- but it was also a risk. I don't catch enough fish to have it taste like crap when I cook it! Anyway, I know I haven't been around in a while, but I thought I'd ask. Hopefully I'll have good luck this summer and will be able to post. By the way, I caught all the fish on the east side of the light at point judith, The big one at night with eels.

Hey Wendy - Wendyferanlahoy, or something like that, eh? Bill floats in from time to time, he took last year off too.

Those "silly questions" sounded like someone was making a prank at first but both Bill & Steve said that you learned quickly and have no fear, and they both said you will become a pretty competent angler. You got some decent fish that year too if I recall...

Glad you like the site and glad you're getting back into the game. And because you were one of the original 50 or so members, you MORE than qualify to join our festivities this weekend down in Westerly if you have the time...

OK, the recipes pages, for some reason I don't know, lost it's link but here it is: http://www.striped-bass.com/recipes.shtml

Welcome back

Hi Wendy , welcome to the board again.

You cooked it pretty good so you must be a basicly good cook.

A nice easy way is to sprinkle it freely with Italian salad dressing and wrap in foil and put on a hot grill about 10 minutes per side.

Another easy way is to put in a dish like you did but add stewed tomatoes and some herbs and a cut up onion. cover with foil and bake in a hot oven at 350 about 30 minutes.

You can also throw some striper fillets into a fish chowder.

Wow John, you have a long memory. Thanks for the invite. I'm not sure I know what's going on in Westerly, but if you give me the heads up I may have to meander on down. I live in N. Kingstown now, so that's just a hop, skip and a jump down the road. I've been fishing by myself this year, and it can get a little hairy at times. Especially if the surf is up at the light.
Thank you for the recipes Saltheart. Hopefully I can put them to good use.
Wendy
P.S. I've seen Bill post a few times and then pull them. I guess he gets the itch and than comes to hei sences. He told me what was up with the fishing friction and I think he made the responsible choise. If you talk to him or Steve, please tell them both I said hello. I'm glad Bills' daughter is doing well also.

John, I just found the posts. I'd love to swing by. What can I bring? I'm not sure what everyone else is taking. Thanks,
Wendy

Wendy, looking forward to meeting you finally. If you want to bring something, I think we need toppings for the burgers & dogs...

One thing I forgot Wendy is I wanted to warn you about the rocks at Point Judith Light. Those black rock east of the light heading down towards the old restaurant where they surf may very well be the slipperiest rocks anywhere I know of. Its like someone greased them with a slippery black grease. be careful. Stay in the gravel or wear korkers for those rocks.

I'll be there with all the fixings. Thank you for the warning about the rocks, but I'm afraid it's coming a little late. Came close to kissing granite twice already, and the first night I went out ( in two years) I waded out into the surf and was knocked over by a wave. Had a good scare that night, but I lived. I've been sticking to the rocks since then.
John, looking forward to meeting you as well. It's been a long time coming. Thanks for the welcome everyone. And thank you John for forwarding my message. Bill wrote this morning. I'm hoping to see him as well.
