February 18th: SWE Fishing Fair and Conservation Raffle

We’re a little late in getting the announcement out on this on s-b.com, but on February 18th from 10am to 4pm will be the 7th Annual Saltwater Edge Fishing Fair and Conservation Raffle. This event is always a fun time thanks to the presenters, vendors, and the people that travel from all over for this show and it has raised over $10,000 since it’s inception for a variety of fisheries and coastal access advocacy groups. It’s also a great warm up for TFCTFN.

A mostly complete list of presenters is listed here and a list of seminars will be up soon; seminar highlights include a “How to Rig Sluggos and use them to catch Big Fish” presentation by Steve McKenna. Captain Al Anderson will be presenting “Tuna on the Fly”. Joel Swan will once again have fully rigged fishing kayaks on display and will present “How to Choose and Rig a Fishing Kayak” and Dennis Zambrotta will present “The History of the Needlefish”.

This year there will also be a Collector’s Corner where you can buy/trade/admire antique plugs and fishing gear. Others with tables include Captain Craig Cantelmo from Van Staal who can answer any questions you may have about VS reels, “Habs”, who will be there with plugs, the Pt. Jude Brothers, “Iron” Mike Everin, and Afterhours Custom Plugs. Steve McKenna, in addition to his main presentation, will have a table in the main room where you can get a close up look at how to rig soft plastics and Joel Swan will also be on the main floor to answer questions about kayak fishing.

Fly tiers with tables include Steve Farrar, Armand Courchaine, Kenney Abrames, Rich Murphy, Joe Cordeiro, Captain Jim Ellis, Masahito Sato, Captain Eric Thomas, and there will again be a Kid’s Tying Table hosted by United Fly Tyers.

Raffle prize highlights include a Habs Surf Rod, an Aquaskinz Prize Pack, Sluggo and Redfin selctions, and the big prize this year is a Heritage Kayaks Redfish. A complete list with many more prizes should be on the website shortly.

If anyone has any questions give us a call at 401-842-0062 or send an email to info@saltwateredge.com

Admission is free as is parking and there are directions listed on our website. Hope to see you all there!

TFCTFN - Too Friekin' Cold To Fish Nite: http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripert...ad.php?t=28894

It is our annual, uhh, banquet for the site members, a good chance to meet fellow members, BS a bit. Some even brave to bring their Significat Others to dispell (or prove once and for all) whether or not we are a bunch of Internet Whackos

MAC - I plan to swing by on the way up as well

A few last minute updates:

Just to make sure everyone knows the location, it's at Goat Island in Newport at the Hyatt. A few people were thinking it was at the shop. Directions are here: The Hyatt at Goat Island

A last minute addition to our presenters: the SWE's custom rod builder, Dave Fontaine (Seawolf) will be on hand with a selection of the most popular surf and boat rods for comparison shopping. Ask questions, compare surf rods, order a new surf stick for the coming year, and check out some really impressive wraps. See the difference experience, quality, and artistry makes.

And lastly a list of the items in The Aquaskinz Prize Pack. Products include a medium wading belt with back support, a small 'skinz pouch, a stainless D-ring, 2 pack or plastic swivel clips, a small lure bag, and an optional shoulders strap.

A couple more additions:

Mike Warecke of Fishing Innovations builds without question the finest locking rod racks on the market. He has several production models and can also custom build whatever you require for your beach buggy or boat. Horizontal and vertical applications. All other locking racks look antiquated compared to these.

March Brown Fly Rods. A local company building quality but very inexpensive travel fly rods. 6 piece rods for $120 and 7 piece for $186 with a lifetime warranty. Tough to beat...

And another update:

A big batch of Troublemaker Surfsters in 1.5 and 3 ounces will be debuting at the show too. Lots of colors, and plenty of the bunker color that everyone loves.
