Question Blues w/Bass Yet?

Has anyone been mixing it up with the blues in Long Island Sound yet? I'm looking for those big Hog Stripers lurking under the Blues in Long Island Sound and have yet to catch a glimpse of them.

I don't fish the Sound, but blues are well north of there by now so they must be around.

Good luck.

blues and bass

fished in the race a few times in the last week or so. some days there are more blews than bass, other days can't find a blue.

Thank you for the replies Devils fiddle & Blitzseeker-
The Race it is--
If I may ask, is the race better during incoming or out going tide? I’ve fished from shore a few times at the end of the runway on Fishers island but never out in my boat. Is it better to be near the island or out more towards the lighthouse?
Also, have you done any good around Long Sand Shoal? I gave it a shot a few times but nothing.

My best luck has been to motor west to Nun#8 outside the freestanding break wall between Clinton Harbor and Westbrook. (Ive been keeping an online log @ http://www.quicktopic.com/13/H/phtrWWNwsJnLD Feel free to take a look. ) I have been doing pretty well there but I’m getting a little antsy to try some new places east of the ct river.

Have you come across any big stripers working the surface yet? I scan the horizon every trip with the binoculars but have not seen anything yet. I'm dying to bring a few to the top with plugs!
Thanks a lot--
By the way, how many CT boat guys are there in this group?

blues w/ bass

if you really want some fun try the watch hill reefs and fishers island for bass on plugs. much better than the race for plugging.
