Lightbulb flying off walk around

have a fly fisherman coming to visit this weekend. I have never thrown a fly off my boat. I think the bow is good for it though.
Can you recomend a good surface popper fly. I have had great luck with surface lures on schools.
Would love to see this " trout guy " get into a 10lb blue.
Thanks

Best place to cast a fly on a boat is the downwind end of the boat. So if you are anchored that is usually the back and if you are drifting that is the front. Reason being that you need to keep the line out side the boat while false casting unless your looking for a new earring. Try the saltwater edge in newport or Bears Den in Taunton MA for Fly poppers they can direct you to the best choice from their stock. I don't think it matters too much with poppers what they look like exactly if they are hitting topwater. One thing about fishing poppers in saltwater you need to keep the leader relatively short or it will be difficult to cast. As it is they don't cast as far as regular flies. Good luck.
