Hey....!!!!!

Got back from Hatteras on Sunday, didn't have a chance to even turn on the computer until this morning, and since it is so hot out, had to get as much done in the garden this morning as I could before it reached 90 degrees. So....now that it's too hot to work outside.....even though there is a ton more to do......here's the scoop.....

Hatteras was great as usual, but the surf fishing su**ed....when the spanish were there, the water was too cloudy. When the water was clear, the spanish weren't there....though I could catch a croaker on every cast if I wanted to.....

One morning had gulls all up and down the beach feeding on small bait fish. The gulls were so thick I was almost afraid to cast thru them for fear of landing one.....

But, I did cast thru them, and only had an 8" blue to show for it, had to be the smallest in the school....I think the fish were so gorged on the baitfish that they wanted no part of my StingSilver, no matter what color I tried......even the gulls were full....I threw some peices of pogie on the beach and they wanted no part of it!!!!!

Soundside fishing was very good - lots of nice speckled trout, small blues and flounder (fluke, they call them "flounder" down there).....had on a monster flounder on at one point. There was a guy that fishes my spot that I see every year. He saw the pole bent over and asked if I needed help. He came over and I had it within 2 feet of me, he tried to net it, missed, and it broke off.......should have done it myself.....nah, probably my fault for not re-tieing often enough......

Got Stripers....you'll be happy to know that your rubbber outfished any of the standard stuff I could get down there for the trout, flounder and blues....even the BlooCrabs liked it....had one come up to the surface chasing it right in front of me, netted him, and he would have been in the steamer pot if I had brought my crab bucket with me that day..but he lived to swim another day....GS, I'll be in touch with you about some opportunities you might have....

Went on a charter in the Gulf Stream....the whole week before they had excellent dolphin (mahi), tuna, wahoo, and billfish fishing.....was on a "make-up" on a reputable boat.....four hours of nothing, the mate kept missing hits ....after five hours we had one mahi in the hole.....finally ran into a school of mahi at about 2 PM, landed about 18 bailer dolphin between six of us in 15 minutes. Other than that, I got one more about an hour later and another guy lost a nice tuna......tough day, considering, but I did bring back 8 fillets that are currently in my freezer......saw about 4-5 billfish flags flying on a couple boats at the dock....guess our Captain chose the wrong area to troll that day.....(or maybe it was cause I was on the boat...)

Ate lots of shrimp, scallops, BLOOCRABS, speckled trout, bluefish, and softshells.....had REAL shrimp and crabcakes last night that I made with some crab meat I brought home....having more softshells tonight from down there that I froze and brought back.....

BlooCrab....Don't worry, I treated them nice, only ate about three dozen......now I want MORE.........

Sure there are a lot more other stories, but there are about 8 pages of posts here I gotta catch up on, so I gotta go.....

Will try to make it to the get together Saturday, but I believe there might be something else going on Friday night/Saturday morning that I really need to attend...will let ya's know later in the week......

See ya!

Glad to hear you had some fun and that the plastics worked well for you, never thought of marketing them as crab baits. I've caught a lot of different species on my hand pours. Send me an email or we can talk on the 13th if your coming.
