Stolen Moter... Help
Had a 2 day old 25 hp short shaft manual start tiller motor... Yamaha 2 stroke stolen from my whaler at 2 am last night from my house in Cohasset. MA. The thiefs unbolted it and left the bolts on the ground. If you see a motor with the 25hp sticker removed from the back of the motor please pm me. Thank You

I had a motor stolen in 1983. It really pissed me off. i never got it back or heard anything about it again despite putting the word out through channels to every marina in the area.

Wouldn't you just love to catch them. Probably the only cure for how you feel right now, except maybe powerball.
Good luck!

I fish the harbor and Scituate a lot from boats. I will keep my eyes peeled as well. Make sure to watch ebay too. Since they are probably from your area, their best bet is to move the thing away from the area.

Also check craigslist and the want-ad. If you don't get it back, I hope they at least get lost at sea due to bad karma...

No insurance... Sold my old Whaler and picked up this one without power. Was going to set up insurance today. Noticed the motor missing when I was painting the bottom! I think it was sombody who works at the dealer...

well look into it
i once took my car to get some front end work done
and the mechanics used it to commit a burglary in broad
daylight which i was blamed for when neighbors copied
down the plate. I was not involved but it ended up
changing my whole life and soon i was headed west.
my point is.....something smells real fishy or like
there was inside info....

Yea, either someone in the neighborhood or someone from the dealer.
FWIW, I not only bolt my motor on but use one of those channeled locking bars over the clamp handles. That lock set up ain't coming off without making enough noise to get me , Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson out of a deep sleep.

Can't stand thieves. Definately send in the serial number to the company. 4 years ago some scum bags took the motor off my whaler and loaded it in thier truck. They came prepared as they were working out here during the week next door to where I had it stored. The house I had it stored at was empty for the winter so the puds deicided to pull a fast one and load it up. One of the guys that worked at the ferry called me and asked if I sold my engine because it was sitting in the back of a truck waiting to get on the ferry. Quite a commotion when I went down to the boat. Still glad I had taken the guy fishing a couple of times so he recognized it.

Rotten bastages, sux for the kids even more.
I hope they find them, and.... ... them.

I agree with fishsmith and squid kids dad. This sounds like an inside job. I would go back to the dealer and snoop around. Talk to the OWNER. It is unlikely that he would risk his reputation for such a small gain and he would have a vested interest in rooting out anyone that would do this. Focus on new employees. At the very least he should hear about it. If it happens again he will KNOW thatsomething is rotten. He may also have some type of delivery or yard insurance that he might be willing to work with you on.
Good luck!

I think he got his motor back......saw this somewhere else.....I'm quoting him.
"Got a call about 11:40 AM from my awesome insurance agent telling me about a 2006 25hp motor for sale on Crsigslist.com. Here's the ad...
I have to engines for sale a brand new 2006 yamaha 25hp boat engine and a 1996 tohatsu 15hp engine.I am selling both for no set price i know book value on both but make me and offer or a trade and im willing to. barter with them.call me mike 781 217 8179.
His brother called him from Chelsea and put a call in to him and from what he told him it sounded like my stolen motor. The customer I was at in Waltham called him and set up a meeting with him. He would not give an address so I told him to set up as meeting at the West marine parking lot in Weymouth. He told us the color and type of car he had and I told him I had a Black Surban. I did not want to use my White Truck because it was in the driveway when he stole the motor.
I called the Cohasset police officer that took the police report and he told me what to do when I got there. He arranged to have a Weymouth Police officer and another Cohasset officer meet us there.
I was told to stay on the phone and make him wait while he ran the plates. I got out of the car and looked at the engine. I saw the 25HP sticker that I removed and knew it was my engine. I scratched the back of my head to signal the police. As soon as I did I could hear the cars racing across the parking lot. The crook placed his keys down so I put them in my pocket. I said "I looks brand new" and he said "only been on a boat once" then I said " Yea... in my driveway in Cohasset before you stole it you piece of Sh&*"
The Police officer jumped out and pointed his gun in his face... the rest went quick but the crook and his girlfriend and there friend were crapping there pants.
By 8pm I had the motor on my kids boat and they were racing across the harbor.
The crook had another arrest so I think he'll be wearing his soap on a rope for a while.
If you had an engine stolen from the South Shore in the last 1-2 weeks give a call to the Cohasset Ploice Department."
