Red Tide

I know if affects clams and other shellfish, because that is all we sell at the shack in kennebunkport, but does it affect the striper's health or what they will eat? There is a story on it here from the globe
http://www.boston.com/news/local/mas...ed_tide_fears/

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I think we discussed this last year. I believe it only affects shellfish. Finfish are not affected.

Maybe the bass will eat all the pogies the red tide might attract. I have a friend who captains a research vessel that sometimes tracks the red tide. The scientists claim the bacteria is killed after a fish or lobster digests the infected shellfish. But then again the scientists were not familiar with this new strain they were tracking. He didn't eat fish last year.
