mac is correct  I built this for making the hook harness that are inside my rigged eels.
Professor- I got the bolt cutters from ocean state job lot... 9 bucks. the steel plate was kicking around my studio so i will count that as free

It looks like the crimping area of this tool is on the right side of the photo and not the left side as I initially thought, is that true.

Oh so you just modified the jaws to crimp and not cut. Good idea. How come I never have and good idea like that?

you can use an angle grinder and lightly dull the cutting edges and not alter the cutters that much- I use this thing every day now, so i needed to make it a bench top crimper, but if your only crimping a few bloofish leaders, then all you need is to dull the edges and use it as is.

I used my smal one which took me alot longer if i had my larger one you tool stealing not giving tools back yuppy

I can attest to the working-ness (good grammer huh?) of this set-up... I performed the pull tests on the harnesses... I cant break them  so they are plenty tough enough for the man in the green striped suit!
and much cheaper than a bench swage at 100's of clams...
