East
Went East of Chatham yesterday and found a lot of life and a lot of bluefish too. We found a bunch of feeding whales and shearwaters going absolutely crazy and then it happened. The port short rigger goes off and the line is screaming off and off some more. The fish just kept on going. Not much to do but watch and wait for the pop of the line off the spool. It happened real fast and not much we could do except look at each other and dream of how big that tuna must have been. A few lessons were learned from the experience. How did everybody else do?

It was a 50vsw that was spooled. Possibly Wednesday will be the next day. I got 2 confirmed reports from boats yesterday that scored with multiple fish. Hooper when we spoke on the radio the last time if you kept your heading for another few miles you would have ended up where we were. I didn't want to announce to the world where we were.

Fished all day Saturday with Cupcake. Bloofish up the kazoo, should have gone more easterly than we did. 44018 Buoy showed a 4 degree drop in water temp since Saturday on this mornin's reading. We had pumpkins on the screen down 150 but could not get them to come up. With all those bluefish it seems they have plenty to eat rather than a spreader of shell squid. Hopefully the sbft's show soon to break up the monotony of chasing the bigger fish. Just got to be there when they are in the mood and be the lucky S.O.B. that gets crashed in the traffic.
Whales put on quite a show and we noted three different species.
We will see what we will see this coming weekend. My new 30lb outfit is still a tuna virgin so..........
