Ideas for hooking up football tuna?
Owner of boat wants to go after some of these footballs that have been seen all over. (I ain't done that before, 'cept once by accident) Need input on reel and tackle requirements, and bait/lures of course.
Hey chet, I bet you could give me the short notes on this one?!?!

Buddy of mine saw hundreds in CC bay Saturday, he has caught them before in blue water, but could not get one to take his offerings.
They are too busy gorging themselves on bunker (I guess).
I was hoping to come across some today but NADA.
i would also like to know what would work if i come across them.

Something about the size of those Peanut Bunkers they be eating.
Got to be shiney like em also.
Toss it into the breaking fish and let it float down, slight flutter, settle, slight flutter, settle, flutter, settle.
You might catch a funny fish or you might get yourself a nice Bass. Lazy Billy Bass and his big sisters many times lay under those chop chop slash slash fish and eat the left overs.
Also try the same shiney tiny but let it settle only about long enough to get the reel in gear and then reel as fast as you can with a side pulling action.
I have driven myself nuts with those darn things.
Once in a great while I get lucky.
THEY ARE GREAT EATING!!
ASK GBOUTDOORS. HE KEPT ONE! and wishes he kept more.

what to use on the tuna!
3 guys I know of that have hooked up on the football tuna ALL got them on a 4 oz castmasters tossed into the pod!

I've got some of those silver buddies, they are about 2-3" long, and weighted so they sink well, I will try them if I come across those schools.
