Canal

Well I went to my buddies down inPembroke to watch the game. I threw my jigging stick in the truck just in case. I went to the canal around 630pm, to work on my conventional casting. Well I had very few backlashes, I managed to snag some braid from the bottom. I handlined it in, and at the end was a 4 or 5 oz smiling bill, with a porko on it. A few more casts, and I lose my first jig of the night. So I tie on the smilin bill, went without a snap, and casted it out. At the end of the drift, I start to retrieve, and wham I am on, 10 minute fight nd I can finally see this fish. It gets in front, and I keep the pressure on as I grab the BigLip, Line snap at the jig, there goes first canal jigged fish, and new lucky jig . Not to be detered, I tie on a snap, and a jig with a GS smoke 9" Bigjerk. After four or five drifts, I am reeling in and wham, I am on again. I landed and released this fish, 30" not a biggie, but better than what I caught last night, right John . A couple more drifts, and finally I hook one while the jig is actually drifting along the bottom. Well I finally figured out that I never was missing any fish at this game. Caught and landed another fish, 29". Well I got 1 more fish 33", and lost another jig. I said to myself, You landed 3 fish, and lost another don't push your luck. Two more casts, and I snagged the 70 yards of big game I lost, and hand lined it in to retrieve one of my jigs. Finally I got fish jigging. Can't wait to try that again, want to make sure it was'nt a fluke. I also missed a few hits.

Thanks for finding my jig oh but you lost it next time, if the jig is out of the mouth grab that instead of it's lip

Good going on your first few fish jigging there this year Bill with the 1209 conv. The first of many I'm sure. you did better than me with mono, I got squat w/ mono.

Since I've lost about 10-12 Smiling Bills w/pork-o trailers in the last couple of weeks fishing braid, my first thought was just like slipknot's, hey thanks for finding my jig!
Good job, bouncing the bottom. Now you know what it feels like when they hit deep.

good fishing specialist. there are so many guys losing large bucktail jigs with tails right now i think about 50 guys would lay claim to the lost jigs. If you pull them in , you get to cats them out again!

Thanks everyone.

Slip I try not to touch too many fish in the mouth after what happened to the guy on the cape. I always have small cuts on my hands from work, the kind you forget you have, so I use the lip grip. I should have tied a better knot. I think I will take wed off and go wed am.

CS thats an Allstar 1209 conventional.
