what's on your reading list for 2007?
i have a pile of books and movies i'd like to read/watch at some point when i can get a spare moment.
anything on your reading list for the new year?
here are a few nerdy books i've been re-reading (always good to get a re-fresher) ...
The Alchemy of Finance - George Soros 
Intermarket Analysis - John Murphy 
Basic Economics: A Citizens Guide to the Economy - Thomas Sowell
Pit Bull - Marty Schwartz

"Bagpipe Brothers" and "Flags of our Father." I received both from Santa! I'll probably re-read Dibennedetto's "On the Run" as well.
Anything to get me through winter.

I will get through Moby #^&#^&#^&#^& in 2007, it's always been on my list, but always start and can never get through it.
I want to read the Da Vinci Code, so I can watch the movie.
Striper Chronicles, Cod: Biography of a Fish the Changed the World, and Striper Wars are all on the list.

Reading "Fiasco" right now - scary, eye opening, if it is half true our government is doing (did) a worse job than I thought and have been bitching about
Next, probably Counterinsurgency Warfare: Theory and Practice by David Galula
Cobra II - Bernie Trainor (and someone else)
The Iraqi Study Group 
Ben - Shadow Warriors - read it several times, fascinating. Granted just the cliff notes for us non-professionals but very interesting just the same.

COD was a very good book.
So was Stiffs (the curious lives of human cadavers)

Someone mentioned "Stiffs"... great, eye-opening book.
I also recommend "Shadow Divers". Some treasure divers find a sunken U-Boat right off the coast of JERSEY. How the hell did that get there? Read it to find out!

Reading now:
Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost at Sea, by Steven Callahan
a riveting firsthand account by the only man known to have survived more than a month alone at sea, fighting for his life in an inflatable raft after his small sloop capsized.
It is amazing how he survived. It came out a number of years ago (02? I think) but I am just getting to it now.

I'm going to re-read the Harry Potter series and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. No need to pretend I'm cool.
I also have alot of books on fish, fishing, survival, exploration, etc. that I will most likely get to. I could blow through probably a dozen books per month if I could find room in my bags to bring them to work with me.

The worst day fishing is better than the best day working. ...Wait a minute, my work IS fishing. Sweet.

Hmmmm.....
I just had a conversation with my 6yo about always having to read/study even when you are as old as daddy. Think she is letting that sink in the past couple of days.

And if I can find a copy of "Fishing with the Bucktail" by Cpt. DeMaio (anyone got one I can borrow?

Set up Ebay to alert you when a copy becomes available. I see them every now and again. That is how I got mine. (my bookcase is right near my office) |

I forgot to mention, I also read a book by John Krakauer a few years ago called "Into Thin Air." It's about climbing Mt. Everest when a storm hits and the fight for survival. That's a good read if anyone is interested.

Try "confessions of a street addict". High octane wall street memoirs by Jim Cramer. If you like all the financial stuff, you might like this.Follow up with "wealth of nations" by adam smith if you get bored and want a sleeper bedtime book. |
