American Idol
I watched a bit tonight and laughed my ass of at how they come up so many ways to tell people they suck !!!
These people have to be total loosers and make total asses of themselves !!! funny stuff !!!

I'd rather pick my toenails than watch that crap
it's bad enough it's on the TV in my house since the women in the house waste time watching it, I guess some of it is funny the way they mock some of them. I was watching the NFL channel cheerleader tryouts, now that is worth watching  |

It may be "stupid trash TV" but as a few of you mentioned, the women and kids love it so my take is sit and watch it with them. Better than heading for another TV and it helps pass the winter and decrease the guilt factor when you are out fishing all Spring/Summer/Fall...... Right? |

I cannot believe I am about to defend Idol but there are FAR worse examples of mindless entertainment on the tube, the radio and the net. Look at all the You-Tube junk that is posted on this very site. Most of it mindless and stupid- but entertaining none-the-less. Sometimes Idol can produce what turns out to be real entertainment and discover talent. Not only is Kelly Clarkson HOT  but she can sing (although she loses points cuz she does not write her own songs).
Back to my original point, I would rather sit with my family on a cold January night and watch people make fools of themselves trying to sing and act than seperate myself from them to avoid it. The real downfall of American Society comes from lack of interaction between people, not from TV, internet, etc....

I gotta give my daughter all the credit in the world, she actually gets pissed at my son when he wants to watch the Crap they are passig off as cartoons these days.....she can live on a steady diet of Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, she loves those channels.
She even cried when Steve Irwin died
Larry, Good Point. But there is plenty of good TV out there. History Channel, Discovery Channel, gees even the Sci-Fi channel once in awhile at least it makes you think.
This reality TV is slowly turning us back into Chimps.

So right you are on that one....I think TV started to Chit the bed in the 70's, thats about when families started to get more than one set in the house and shows started to become "Innapropriate for Younger Viewers"
Back in its early days and into the late 60's there seemed to be a lot of shows that everyone could watch together. a program was an event for the family.
The Wizard of Oz was on once a year, Rudolf was on once a year and everyone in the house was sitting around together watching it.
Sunday nights was Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom followed by The Wonderful World of Disney and everyone in the house watched it together.
Man I miss those days.... |

My wife likes to watch the show and convinced me to last night. Pretty sad the way people put themselves up on a pedestal and then fall on their face. like the guy that said he sounded like mariah carey  I think his name was "MC bite the pillow" what an Idiot!
missed the meltdown from the guy crying with the red shirt with the weedwacker or something. I had enough. |

I get a kick out of the ones who are RREALLY surprised they are not going to Hollywood. The only ones we see are a drop in the bucket compared to all those who show up to try out. Imagine the freaks that never make it inside to go before the judges.

spring,, summer,, fall ,,hardly any tv .. winter I'll watch anything ,,, want reality TV ,, This is a "must see" ... Discovery channel ,,, Survivorman or Man vs Wild .... guys get dropped off in remote areas to survive on there own . Watched a guy eat maggots of a dead rotting animal carcass .. If you rip the heads off the maggots there not bad .. and a tremendous source of protien ..  |

I like to watch TV as an escape......Idol is harmless ...a bit hoakey I'll admit
To me it beats watching TV shows that just depicts all the horrible stuff I hear on the news....terrorism, murder, sex crimes...etc.

My daughter watches the show and last night I watched some with her.
I laughed my ass off at the fat girl who couldn't sing one bar in tune and couldn't believe she wasn't going to Hollywood !!!
He words,
"I have 10 years of vocal training" !!!
"I have a degree in music" !!! 
Then there was the looser kid who was crying at the end of the show !!! |
