Mechanic for project outboard

looking to find a mechanic with time on his hands to consider tackling a complete go over on an outboard motor. It's a Johnson 40 hp for the 70's. good motor, last ran in about 1976 and stored indoors since. I don't know what it's worth or if it's worth bringing this classic back to life or not.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

My first boat had a 25hp Johnson w/an electric start. I think it was a 72'. Had it serviced every year and flushed it out after every saltwater trip. Took me all around Duxbury Bay and past the Gurnet. All around the west end of the canal too. Owned it from 2001 to 2004 so it had some age when I got it. No problems.

I have a 1944 40 hp johnson that sat for 25 years. Needed to rebuild the carb, was all gummed up. Everything else was fine, after normal lube maintaince, etc..
I would go for it. Has it been in fresh or saltwater? Mine was fresh only.

It shouldn't take to much. Is it an electric start or a cord start?
