And of those 31% most are probably more approving of his stance on abortion and gay people than anything else

Who ever wins in 2008 is going to have to promise to deliver...they won't be able to push it off on the last Admin. This is the act they have to follow.

People seem to be duped into the idea that disapproval of Bush somehow translates into approval of those who oppose him.

Yes, when in doubt puke Clinton out.
Amazing how the party of personal accountability can't help but regurgitate slick willie at every turn when Bush's ratings are in the dumper.
What's interesting is how David Brock, author of most of the Clinton conspiracies has come clean and admitted the bulk of it was simply fabricated to bring the man down.
Sure Bill shot himself with the "it" lie. But in the broader context this is but a minor trouble to the American people.

I love it when I get that indignant routine whenever that statistic is pointed out. I'm sure the response would be quite different had I compared Bushs ratings to Nixon's ratings. As far as Brock goes he was wasting his time. Bill didn't require any embellishment.

Sorry but I need to correct myself. Bushs' approval rating is still 9% higher than Clintons lowest of lows at 22% in February of 1998. Not that this post is about Clinton but relative perspective is always good.

Ok, I've done a little homework and my conclusion is that you're COMPLETELY FULL OF SH!T.
Clinton's approval rating in November 1997 dipped to 51% by most polls.
What say you?

Sorry, the 11/97 rating I misread. 31% Was his disapproval rating at the time. His lowest rating was 36% (+ - 3%) via Gallup in mid 1993. Basically the same approval percentage as Bush is experiencing now.

Not really...
Clinton's approval was being dragged down by Congressional issues that led to the GOP sweep in 1994.
After that it went up, and stayed up for the most part...
Bush's approval is a direct reflection of his proven inability to lead.

Skitter how about a little continuity with the tenents of your party...
