Site history
I found this site when I was 41, so I have been posting for 5 years. Let me tell you a little about my history of the site. When I first joined there we much more discussion of spots and fishing forecasts. Plug building and rod building. That winter there was some high school kid that pissed off the whole site membership, he left and started his own site. I meet Steve from Mass that year and took him fishing on my boat. He kind of scared me at first. He looked like a homeless guy because he had been fishing for 3 days straight. He turned out to be very nice and I think he had a real good time. Went to TFCTF that year and met JohnR, Bluecrab, ChrisL, and others It was very fun. Seemed to be a lot of bikers in the club my wife said. The next year Mr.Macy was the king of posts. I have a lot of respect for him, he turned his life around and is doing well. I remember he got hassled in Newport about docking his boat and his sister runs a B&B there. He is honest and open and I enjoyed watching his success grow. Also that was the year of Notoros first post which had a picture of him gutting a undersized striper over a sink. He was roundly criticized for that and turned out to be quite cool and popular Year 3 I spent the summer running charters out of Point Judith on my boat. I got really good at finding striper's and did 3-4 charters per week. It was a great experience and a have a few very funny stories to tell around the campfire. Year 4 Moved the boat back to Newport. Took Clammer fishing to Southwest ledge it was hot and %$%$%$%$ty I caught one striper after a few hours in the hot sun. Clammer decided to see if he could get me to crash my boat on some rocks under Southwest Light. I wince every time I think about it. Year 5 did not fish much gas too high. Overall I have really enjoyed the site and the members. And look forward to this year.

Great read!
I think I signed on exactly a year ago and it has been great. I had the best year of fishing ever last year and learned a ton from the members on this board. I also got to meet a couple people and had a great time organizing the ZeeBaas for John who I met for the first time when we gave it to him at the MS tourney in RI.
Thanks for the great site John and everyone else. It makes my slow days fly by!

I found this site through my dad always being on it. I was 12 years old, and in 6th grade.. Now 5 years later, i'm 17 and in high school. Its unreal how time flies. But this year its going to be the 4th year of TFCTFN, and everytime it gets better and its the event i wait for every year, besides christmas . This site is great!

Had been on a few different sites and stumbled on S/B a little over 3 years ago. I liked everything i saw and signed on because of the salts of the earth that post here.
I've made some great friends, and a few of which i feel i've known all my life and are part of my family.
This is a special place where i have found a man's word is as good as his bond, generosity beyond the pale, and the best of the best of people.
Pretty much the only place i go now, no need to leave home.
