Do you believe in the following theory?
Well, it happened to me again
Fished at the trunk river this morning in falmouth, dodged some lightning and fished from 04:00 to 06:30. Threw everything I had in the surf bag and nothing, not even a blue!
Decided I would take a little road trip, I have heard of a place with blues everywhere and some bass mixed in, I have lived here for almost 4 years now, and just now had the idea to look for south cape beach, I know, I know. So on the way there I stopped at Falmouth bait and Tackle and asked for a Ranger plug, I got a nice big 3 oz all silver one that looked pretty sweet. Found south cape beach ok, and started to fish, wasn't really doing anything, and this guy walking a dog, compliments me on my surf bag and hands me a zara spook, he said he found it and didn't want anyone to step on it. I knew I shouldn't have taken it, because on my very next cast, my line snaps for no reason i can think of, there were no nicks, abrasions, or anything. And now my new 3 oz Ranger is gone, a sacrifice to the fish gods. Well I guess I found a new spot anyways, so it wasn't a total wash.
Have you ever experienced this.. I'm a firm believer in the find one lose one theory

I was on the south side of Montauk, not doing much, when I stopped to talk to some guy. While we wre gabbibg I spotted a green pencil between some rocks. I picked it up and put it in my bag. We were done talking so I clipped it on to see how it would fly. Three casts, three fish between 10 and 15. Forth cast..........snap, gone. I didn't complain.

Spent the night on the west end of Cuttyhunk. Dawn came and I looked in my bag for the pencil popper that I thought was in there, not. One of those complete loss of confidence moments when you just feel like I really should have had a pencil popper.
Took a few steps and there on the rocks was a white Ranger, hook corroded and looking like it had spent a season in the sea. Took a hook off a plug in my bag put it on the Ranger and cast after cast caught decent schoolies. Caught fish till I really needed coffee and/or sleep and took the long walk back. Went back out that afternoon and first cast a blue took it back.
Some plugs are like that.

Yesterday, I hook a plug up in a tree, I let it sit while I fished
then my wife and I lashed some sticks together and I snagged the back hook, I tied it back on and after like 3 casts I casted it so far it went into some trees in the middle of the river and I had to snap it off, it was brand new and only cast 10 times
