Maple burl pikie
So, some of you guys know the history (or lack there of) between me and my dad. Well, after 10+ years, we patched things up and I am going to see him next week as well as he will be at wedding. I wanted to make something very special for him so this is what I came up with. It is about 7" and pretty heavy (I didn't weight it but would guess 4oz). Maple burl with only an epoxy coat. I think it came out very nice.

I'm hoping it all works out for you. That pikie sure did. Best of luck, bud.

Thanks all-
Making amends with my pops last year was what I felt a pivotal point in my life. I can' wait to see the look on his face next week when I hand this lure to him.

That is a really fantastic lure Surf Hunter, one of the best I have seen on this forum so far and there have been some really good ones. I'm sure your father with treasure it.
I really like the eyes. Where did you get them?

Sorry to bump this, but thought you guys might like an update. the trip to Texas was awesome, it was really wonderful seeing my dad again after so many years. When I gave him the lure, he melted, well actually, we both did, there was not a dry eye in the room, thank God Shannon was there so we would have to "man up" a bit and regain composure.
My dad collects die cast cars, he ended up taking one out of a display case and putting the pikie n that case on the top middle shelf. I felt that was an honor.
The wedding for Shannon and I went smooooth as silk and it was a great time for all the families, heck, my dad actually sat down and had a talk with my mom (they divorced when I was about eight years old) and there was no yelling. Wow, guess time does heal wounds.
Anyway, thank you so much for the kind words. that is what keeps Shannon and I building!
