Quincy-Boston-Hull Friday

El skunko on Friday...

Conditions seemed ideal....tide was right, overcast, light chop

Was out at first light Friday morning...fished Hull Gut to Bumkin. Lots of birds working/diving. Not sure what they were chasing but there were no schools of bass or blues breaking the surface like you typically see. Might still be a week or two too early. Marked lots of bait in the water but no hits. Birds scattered...moved on to Hospital Shoals to look for pogies...nothing! It was either too choppy to locate them or they have moved on. Moved over to Nixes Mate Rip....nothing. Moved to Wolllaston...nothing. Moved to Back side of Peddocks...nothing. Over to World's End...looked promising but nothing again. Wind really started to pick-up around 10am so we headed for home. Threw everyting in my tackle box. Fished from shore today around Gun Rock. One schoolie on clams and a freakin' three foot dogfish in about three feet of water...big, fat SOB. Anybody have better luck in this area over the weekend?

Friday, 8AM to 2PM, fished Hull Gutt, West Gutt, Hospital Shoals, Rainsford, Bumpkin, Hangman's with the same results.

Nothing substantial on the fish finder, nothing on tube and worm or chunk.

Saturday spotted large bass off Nut Island laying in holes, lost an anchor drifting back across area. Trolled for two hours and could not find the bass-hole.

Sunday, fished the east end of the canal, the place was absolutely loaded with what looked liked spanish peanut bunker as far as you could see.

The schoolie stripers were having a blast pushing the bait to the shore.

Only schoolies on chunk.

Hoping for a decent Bs season...We need to get some cooler weather to kick of the fall run. I'm thinking this heat may have pushed things back a bit. I was hoping to get in a few days on the water this weekend. The weather looks to be nice but the water temps might still be close to 60. Lots of bait around in the bays but the large schools of blues and stripers are probably still offshore working their way down from Maine. I'm looking forward to those major blitzes in Quincy bay!
