Your buddy's got a Large fish on

Ok - so if you've ever gotten into stripers from a boat , you already know alot of times there's an entourage behind the hooked fish, and in my case....they're always bigger than the one on my line......so with that in mind.

When you're surf-fishing with a friend and he hooks into a "Good" fish, what's your initial reaction?

Do you:

#1.> Reel in quick to avoid getting crossed and try to assist.

#2.? Cast somewhere in the area that he "hooked" up hoping to catch a LARGER one

#3.> Cast directly behind his hooked fish anticipating that you'll be able to turn the fish away from your partners' when you hook one

#4.> Scratch your head in disgust, thinking "why does HE, always catch the big one?"

#5.> Think to yourself, "Good for him, he deserves it"...and mind your business until he asks for assistance.

#6.> Quietly whisper.........."I hope you - LOSE IT, LOSE IT, LOSE IT!!! f#$%g A-howle"

#7.> Ask him what he was using and how he was working it

#8.> Ignore the fact that he's into a BIG fish and keep casting in the opposite direction hoping to find your own

#9.> Break out the digital camera and start taking pictures to post on the internet -

#10.> Yell down to the closest group of bucket/heads...."HEY!! MY BUDDY'S GOT A BIG ONE!!!"...

#11.> Turn on your head-lamp and stare the hooked fish down while he trys to land it.

#12.> Run over and start giving him "Wet-Willies"...

#13.> Start spacing out and lose total concentration on what you're doing, and simply watch him...

#14.> Remind him that he's illegally parked.

#15.> Keep a close eye on the bend in his rod trying to calculate how big you really think it is, cuz he always says it's a "BIG" one...

#16.> Find a safe area to assist in landing the fish

#17.> Tell him that the last time he went fishing, you slept with his wife...

I'm guilty of: 3 - 4 - and 12.................and 6

What thoughts go thru your mind when your buddys' on with a Big Fish???

...it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

I'd try to steel the glory by saying something like "I'm glad I could take you out here", "I'm glad I could do this for you" or something along those lines

seriously, depends on the situation. if his fish runs north, I'd cast south, or vice versa. If it looked really large and it didn't look like he had a handle on it, I'd wait until he did to cast.

as I read thru the list I was waiting for #17 to show up

there is one that I have done that is not on your list = go down to your buddy and strum his line like a guitar string , just get out of the way quick before he kicks you.

#1 or #5 is usually what I do but also #13

If it's bassmaster that was with me, well then it would be #4 definately and then he would do #9

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

Maybe's it's because I don't catch large too often. But I'm usually happy when a friend hooks up and hope they have the biggest fish possible. I generally would continue casting in a "safe area" and help if need be.

Once the fish is high and dry, I'll tell him I slept with his wife the last time he went fishing.
