dog fish in plymouth..

I was out monday morning early with live bait, but no luck. Saw some birds out near the #2 can, so decided to give it a shot for a while. Just as I thought, bluefish. But still fun to catch when the bite is slow. Next thing you know, there were fins and tails everywhere, and I thought they were the blues, but all of a sudden there were acres and acres of dogfish swimming around and into my boat. They were all about 2 - 3 feet long, but it was amazing how many there were. I am not exaggerating, there were dogfish all the way from the Plymouth channel down to the power plant, I've never seen anything like that in my life around here. Anybody else out there see this, I guess that north wind is bringing in a lot more than blues and schoolies. Good luck all, best time is on its way.

sad to say it's a very common site in and around cape cod bay. I've seen them as far the eye can see from stellwagen pointing towrd ptown and the other direction towrd boston.

I hate the friggin things, watch out for the spike on their tail when you do bring them aboard.

They have two spikes! One next to each dorsal fin.

good point (or should I say 2 points), My foot is usually somewhere between the head and midsection of the fish, so the flopping tail is my concern.

I don't even bring them in the boat anymore. I found this trigger grip dehooker and I just lean over the side and shake them loose.

so you mean no fishing in Plymouth for the time being?
hopefully in Oct. while on vacation gonna do some COD fishing
on some of the wrecks outside the harbor and N to high pines / H -bouy this is not spot burn they are well known spots for AGES & AGES
