Anyone catching under the moon?
So far this week two slow nights. Jigging, plugging. I'm in a little slump. Slow last week too.
I'm chasing a ghost--that is I'm fishing spots that in years past have produced good fish in late-September. But those spots are yielding nothing. What to do? I'm stubborn--many of us are--and I refuse to believe that my go-to spot is dry. It makes me feel a little naked. Scared too. I need a good fish. My winter, the whole of humanity, depends on it. Eels, right? Chunks on the bottom the next gale we have down on East Beach. The south shore is producing fish, but the fish seem to be staying out in 30 feet. They'll come in with the next big breeze. We need a blow. Unless I'm the only one slumping. Could be.

Your not the only one slumping.I was talking to a friend about it last night. The fish seem to be in a summer pattern.Late night bite.Time for an end to this August weather and get on with fall and the appetite's that come with it.

I have a feeling with in the next couple of weeks and this weather pattern change at the end of the week will start the fish moving
I just hope I am not missing something, somewhere I am not fishing

You need to go fishing to catch fish. I haven't been out at night in over a week. Next time I'll think twice before offering to help the other half with her 25 page paper.
Beer me......please.

It isn't for lack of bait. Two nights in a week with conditions about the same weather wise. In the dark there were fish, under the moon, not.

She just discovered my Under Armor shirt that i wear with my wetsuit. It was in the laundry that hasn't been washed since that last trip out. Funky to say the least. That should teach her.

Catching? Yes. Like Tagger said.....dinks....tons of peanuts around! I think there is just alot of bait right now....when the bait starts to split the fishing will blow up! The large will begin to search and scavenge!

Mixed bag of bass and blues. All fish under six pounds. Dropped one that took drag. White darter.
The geologist took a beauty. We'll hear from him tomorrow. Dork.

I think we already had the first big push of fall fish. From the first week of september until about 10 days ago, there were a lot of surf caught large( 30#) plus fish. The last 10 days or so seems to have slacked way off. I think we are in between schools right now. As for the moon, I avoid it unless there is cloud cover. Tonight's the full, so I will likely wait three or four nights to go back out.
As always, someone will do something somewhere on the full from the surf. Personally though, its my last choice.
From the boat it can be outstanding.

Let's see, my biggest last night was about 24"; Bryan's was over 40". Yeah it ain't the R.I. State Record, but still, giving the conditions, I'd say it's a very fine catch.

I'm back in the surf tonight. First time in 2 years. Probably forgot how to jump rocks so you will have to watch the "old man" in case I fall in.
