Need a Men behaving badly forum???

I see lots of threads where the only thing that can describe what's going on is "men behaving badly". I think we need a special forum where threads like that can go but not be closed or deleted. I think people should be responsible for what they post. If they behave badly , the posts should hang around there neck like an anchor for a good long time. No more 50 derogatory posts then a plea to delete the threads and posts. you post it , you live with it and it becomes part of your internet personallity for all to see.

Right now , people post anything they want cause if it gets heated or people fight back it all gets wiped out like it never happened. why behave at all when all will be erased. Why not just blurt it out , , hurt feelings , make enemies since after a while all is forgiven with a delete button.

People need to be held accountable for what they say and to do that , what they post needs to remain visible for all to see.

now I see a need for some exceptions but that should consist of edited posts for super stupid personal stuff or blatantly threatening talk that could later bite some one but if someone just wants to be an a-hole for the day , well that should stay up so people know who the A holes are after repeated performances.

What do other people think?

i love the conflict, and I hate seeing those threads deleted, & even locked.

i would love to see a "dumpster" or something where bad threads go to live and fester. out of the way so they don't clog up the main forums.

and i think that you restrict it so that people can't start threads in the dumpster, only bad threads get moved there. otherwise it just becomes another 'scuppers'

or maybe a "men behaving like 2 yr. olds" forum, or "men who think they're god's gift to the internet surfcasting community" forum

My concern is why should we allow the bad blood and attacks to further grate on people? Give people the opportunity to attack and pig pile?

Some people do it because they are angry.

Some to set other people off.

Some for sport.

And some, well, they just can't help themselves.

What is the answer?

Answer is easy John, Just toss the offenders off the site or put them in the bullpen( yes me included!)..cant be more easy than a mouse click! Doesnt seem that complicted to me...

However, when something bothers me I will speak up...heart on sleve , whatever you want to call it, thats me...I wont lie, I wont sit back, and I wont run to the dear abby column..But not meaning this as a slight, the truth is, its very easy for you to take away posting privledges of anyone you want with the click of your mouse and then the problems are over...and you can certainly start with me! None of this has anything to do with you and I realize that...but your answer is right there

why do people slow down to look at a car crash?

Its in our nature i guess.

if you make the dumpster forum, and thow it down towards the bottom, only those who dare enter will be further grated upon, and those who slug it out can have at it....

it will probably die pretty quick if it is not in the main forum.

I don't know, sounds like a private mens club to me.
We'll need proof of the behavior in order to become a member.
Maybe it should stay as the Grumpy of pharts forum.

you didn't do anything wrong. you said how you felt about an article. for that fact, an article that made specific allusions to you.

maybe i guess it got a little ugly towards the end, but overall, and IMHO, you had the right to say what you did, even if it pisses some people off.

again, JIMHO.

Your right Zac, I had every right to give my opinion on that article, once an article is published it becomes the publics right to say whatever they feel about...Quotes in that article were directly taken from things said on this site and 100% directed at a few certain peole, there is ABSOLUTLY no denying that...I stated how I felt about and thats that, if you cant take the heat get out of the kitchen...Trust me I have been on the other side many times, it goes with the territory..and thats that..I am sick and tired of having to tread a fine line with what is supposed to be grown men...Have I been attacked?? are you kidding me?

John has told me I ask for it...that is mostly true...At least I say what I feel and tell the truth..I dont sugar coat anything..Most people dance around things here because they are S!@#K ARSES They are deathly afraid of losing there internet buddies..yada...yada...yada..

When it all comes down to it, who really cares? everyone is different and everyone has there opinions, no one on here is more right or wrong than the next guy...and saying they are or taking sides is akin to playing god or acting like the thrid reich...Its all about ...I am sure plenty of good friendships have been made here thats great! But if people cant say what they feel, what do you have?? you have nothing, never knowing there true feelings or never telling the truth...It is what it is...

Now watch! This thread will get the "hook" also....with the excuse that is has gotton "stupid" when it involves me thats just the way it is!

Ok I am off to visit Steve...

My opinion-

I wouldn't change a thing on the site.

Why would you? It is a great site "as is".

I get 10X the value out of this site versus the other(s).

When I want to read/learn about fishing, this site is dramatically less cluttered with garbage than the other(s). And when you want some internet pissing contest entertainment (hey, I like it once in a while as much as the next guy, particularly during Jan-Mar), John usually lets it go on long enough for me to get my fill before throwing on the padlock.

I will say this, though, Saltheart is spot on with taking responsibility for your posts. And I don't mean that as any commentary on this last go-round as I don't know anything about it and have no idea who is justified to post what they did and who isn't. But as a general statement, everyone should always take time to consider what they're posting...the internet has a way of making you forget you're still in the real world with real people after you hit "submit reply".

since we've all agreed that eben has the best avatar ever, can we all agree that this is the, err, most questionable thread title ever, I was afraid to open it.

Some posts have to be removed and the moderators should not have to explain why.

Also , This is not aimed at Bill specifically. Bill and I have always beeen good. I sure wouldn't want to face the competitiveness , jealousy and associated sniping (trolling) he has to put up with.

The question I pose has nothing to do with what is said or who said it. The question is , should you have to take responsibility for what you post by having it stay on the board for all to see and judge for themselves , or should everybodies bad behavior be whitewashed by totally making things disappear through kindly moderation? Are we creating more problems because people know that no matter how far things go in a thread , someone will erase the evidence of bad behavior?

F #$%^&* age /I never saw the thread either //

but saltheart is right on ... if they want a pissin /war & it doesn,t start in the BOYS forum ..one of the moderator has the ability to move it ;;

But I agree that we all are responsiable [sp] for what we post here .>& I thing John has been more than tolorent [sp] with many threads // >. but just shutting them down >. ???? I don,t know //I guess it dependson what level someone has taken it ;;
When it gets personal & its not ball busting then I feel there is a limit ..
yes we see alot of guys bust balls >. but most members know that they know each other [REAL} well & its all taken in good fun ;;
But I have also read post that are personally directed at the person / from someone that doesn,t even know that person /except what they have read & heard // && to me ,that a whole new level .. >> I wouldn,t call people names or characterize them & it gets done here quite abit >>. mostly by the same group // which is the only time //there should be a off limits or time out ;;

once you print it >>>>>>>> I feel that you are fair game / to be agreed /disagreed / or whatever / but once you go past that & single that person out personally because you believe so strongly against what they are saying or doing on the board // its you that should be shut down ;;

damn I missed that thread completely ;;

Ya don,t have to be a rocket engineer to see patterns

certain members can post something ..not much of a issue ///someone else will post the same post >> &&& all hell breaks loose >.
there are active members on this site /that wait to attack other s// && I bet you go to church on sunday >>>>>>>> so that makes up for the things that are said or applied about another person >>>>>>>>> ya should sit back & take your own inventory before you cast stones or threats ;;

also If someone is getting paid to write articles /which many do on the site ;;
the 1st I hear of it is from a post on this site // be it a + or - / that person has opened the DOOR ;;

It seems many people have recently /last 5 years taken up writing articles // personally I don,t have any idea why someone would choose to do that ;;
its not the money >.ya can make more recycling cans

some articles are informative / some are story telling .. which sometmes are the best / others are [HOw - To] // others are rehash of old articles /change a few words & photos / new article ;;
its ok by me > I look forward to the fisherman & OTW ;;

bottom line TO ME] is to each there own / & unless they open up the box // its their business not mine ;; i also go by what has been said here /since the beginning >. don,t like / no interest >>>>>>>>>>>>> Don,t F #$%^&*( read >>> it can,t get any simpler ;;

IMO

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!

i agree. once you write it the post stays.

if you want to pu$$y out and go back and edit, that is fair, but the record will show it was edited, and if someone quoted you, you lose.

but i can understand that some people don't like conflict (unlike me, i love it). that is why you throw it in a new area so the people that want rainbows and sunshine don't have to have this big conflict banging them in the face a the top of the list all day/night.

the idea of a dentention hall forum is cool. and it makes people take responsibility for what they write.

i will also add that it is very wierd....

I love these debates about spot burning, oldschool vs. new school, boat v. shore, bait v. plug, quit early or go long, etc.....

But I cannot stand the raging politcal debates, and I was very happy when that got segmented, and I never, well hardly ever, will check that forum. So I know the system works.
