Surf Fishing Presentations?

I've been asked to give another presentation at the SWE show in February. In the past I've waxed poetic about the old days on Block, plug history, and last year gave a show about tips and techniques I use in the surf. In trying to keep things interesting I thought I'd ask those of you who frequent fishing shows what you would want to see. So here is your chance for some input: Short of step by step directions to "Flat Rock" what interests you guys? Do you want "memoirs" or "how to" presentations? Story telling? Give me some ideas.

DZ - I would love to see some info on trip planning, particularly, why you choose a certain spot in a certain night. Past experience and comparing conditions? Knowing the fsih are moving and will hit that area? I know that wont take up a whole presentation but thats the number one puzzle for me.

I can't get enough about "reading the water" and the impact of wind - diagrams, description overlays on real pictures, etc

Thanks for asking!

How-To is what interests me the most, as

I am DEEP into the hungries phase of my two year surfcasting "campaign". Chris' suggestion of overlays about the relationship between tide, winds, and current are invaluable to those of us with less moons under our belts.

Then again, who among us can pass up a good fishing story?? LOVE the anecdotal stuff, since it often relates the humanity of our beloved sport while imparting gems of knowledge ~between the lines.

How excellent are you to ask, DZ!?!

And Much Thanks to The Edge for assembling such a quintessential line-up, nevermind the fact that all proceeds will benefit the Haberecks from the amazing raffle they put on each year .

i agree on the trip planning. I really need to work on why i go to a certain spot and at which time, tide, wind ect. Also on the techniques of keeping logs and records of when, where, what information is key in keeping a succesful fishing log.

I thought you had planted a tracking beacon in his bag when you were on BI last year.

DZ,

If I was to leverage your experience and knowledge, this is how I'd craft a presentation. Fortunately you're flush with the building blocks to make this easy!

1) Best practices that would help someone properly identify a situation and make better decisions

2) Personal anecdotes that legitimize the best practices and capture the audience

3) Insightful remarks to help audience members reflect upon their own behaviors and performance

4) A call to action to help inspire (and drive vendor plug sales )

Thanks,

-spence

You know, Tom McGuire and Tony Paliotti made a science out of how barometric pressure affect the bass bite. I spoke with them about this 10 years ago. Some great insight....

I agree with the other comments about more info on reading the water. along those lines, I also like to hear stuff about fishing strategy, almost like "a night in the life of DZ" how to you formulate the game plan for the night? when do you decide to move on from a spot or keep at it?

i'd like to hear about the glory days of BI (stories, photos, etc.). something that paints a picture of the time and the charactors involved.

or, you could give some beard grooming tips - every time I try to grow one I end up looking like homeless guy and my wife makes me shave

Your story telling ability is some of the best I've heard so I think it would be great if you could at least work some of that into your presentation. I know anything you come up with I'll be sure to be there for it.
