Wow!! I can't even imagine what it will be at the dock.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day ...
show him where to fish and ... you'll be sorry

so glad I got the tin boat to use most of the time. Save the 19 footer for special occasions. Most of the time it is the tow vehicle that eats the most gas.

The past couple years I really don't think it hurt allot of boaters too much, but I think this year it will really sink in to peoples fishing and fun. Unfortunately I don't think it will ever go down. At least down to where it should be, never.

27ft boat with Twin 260 mercruisers, believe me it hurt. And every time I pull into the gas dock I get this this awful pain like my prostrate is being checked by a doctor.
But I guess I am the cause of my pain, and I think you are right, once it is up it never goes down to the point that we get any true relief.

ITH, You still went fishing the last couple years though, it just hurt a bit. This year you may actually not go certain days becasude of the cost.

I think what will wind up happening is that I will probably fish the same amount of days, if not more, but I won't be making the 15 - 20 mile run to fish where I want. Gas at $4 - $5 a gallon is going to force me to become a better fisherman in waters closer to my slip.

ITH,

That is the best way to handle it. Lots of short distance trips. Twin 260 merc on your boat is about 26 gallons an hour cruise I bet. I have 1 and do 13. A good freind of mine is repowering with new 350 Crusader MPI 330HP. He has twins also. Figures going from 26 per hour down to 16 cruise. That is a big difference in the MPI engines.

I am looking to put the tow vehicle behind the fence and get another day to day vehicle that has double or more mpg. Anybody do this? I was thinking about only leaving liability on the truck and only April - November in MA. I already have a large umbrella policy for any unfortunate legal actions if they were to occur.

I saw on the news this morning that premium hit $4.00 in San Diego, CA this weekend! I'm so glad I have a 4 cylinder in my car and a 16" skiff with a 15hp 4 stroke. Gas isn't an issue so much for me.
