I doubt that googans would be able to find any of my decent shore spots. If they did, I'd definitely leave. I fish for the peace and quiet and have no tolerance for loud music and bright lights.

I'd strike up a conversation about all the recent shark sightings in that area and how you just reeled in a blufish bit in half.
Leave for your next spot and tell them have a good night.

Cow Tamer - I would venture to guess that with the recent influx of surfers and googans, that perhaps your spot has been burned?? Maybe not the best spot to try first?

it depends on my mood . If Im in a good mood and do what I feel is the right thing . a surfer has very few places to surf around here so I will move or if they are a good bunch of guys I will cast around them . I have been steered in the right direction to fish more than once by some surfers . other times I have blasted a 2oz ball jig right in front of them as a warning . usually works .

googans

Cowtamer, if you were at a spot the googans showed up you didn't look to hard for a good place to fish.

Everyone started somewhere. While their style may not be your cup of tea they could just be in it to get away, everyones different. You can always learn something from people. If thats not your cup of tea move on. Sucks that you should have to move but thats most often how the ball rolls

Domination takes full concentration..

i'm with TTimber on this one.

we were ALL googans at one point in our surfcasting career.
You, cow tamer, me and everyone else. you chose to take the high
road while others have chosen a different path. one thing for sure is that it takes ALL of us to make up this CRAZY mixed-up world.

it pisses me off too, and happened to me at one of my NPT spots last year, although they were about 30yds off of the honey hole. so........
i did my damndest to try and DROP a Cow on there butts. all i could take was 30 minutes and i moved on.............

also, it may just be that your SPOT is not YOUR spot, so much???
went on to catch sum decent stripers at both my second and third choices that night.............go figure??

I 'd pack-up and 86 the spot. I had a bad experience with "googans" which ended in blows. As I learned after the fact, I'm not letting anyone ruin my enjoyment of the sport so if that means I have to go else where then gotta go, gotta go.

I guess chris L. is right... I guess I'd just run back to Commercial Street...maybe I could get some respect, there. At least you don't have to worry about the white buckets and backwinders, there...

OOh...backwinders!!!

I'd go back to the vehicle, grab my white bucket,a Rage CD for the boom box, tin of skoal, and join them.

This tip usually works for me on an airplane, amtrak, etc. I break out a coloring book and start singing the "mary had a little lamb" (off key is even better). To kick it up a notch, break out the capri-sun drink box, and cheez-its from a sandwich baggie, A Guarenteed people mover!!

who said holier than thou

didjya read the part about the Coleman lanterns lighting
up the rocks like a landing strip at LaGuardia??

until it really happens to ya, it's very easy to boast about joing the masses..............yet, do you do this thing that we do ~~to get away from the idiocy, for some solitude, and for the rejuvination that comes from connecting to the surf and exercising your right to hunt and gather???

i know that i do,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and the noise and the lights and the tangled lines would drive me outa my tree. not elitist, just not my brand of fishing. and i'm just guessing here, but i would bet that it is not your modus operandi, either.
