Climate change and the RI Coast

Guys,
Thought this might be of interest to some here.
I was asked to pass the word along to some of the fishing clubs in the state, and I figured I'd post it here as well.

"Greetings!

On behalf of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) and University of Rhode Island Coastal Institute, you are cordially invited to attend:

"Climate Change and Rhode Island's Coast: Where Will Tomorrow's Shoreline Be?"
Tuesday, June 17th
The Towers, Narragansett

This day-long discussion aims to provide South County decision-makers, developers, and coastal property owners with essential information on how the effects of climate change will impact Rhode Island coastal regions. Additionally, this event will emphasize how coastal regulators are attempting to minimize property and habitat loss while better protecting the people that live on the coast. Speakers include: Kate Moran, Graduate School of Oceanography, URI; Jon Boothroyd, Department of Geosciences, URI; Janet Freedman, CRMC; Grover Fugate, CRMC; Stephen Alfred, Town of South Kingstown; and Richard Horowitz, RI DEM and Coastal Institute. There is no cost to attend; snacks and boxed lunches will be provided. Please see the attached save the date and schedule of events, and visit www.crmc.ri.gov to register.

For more information please contact:
Laura Ricketson-Dwyer
CRMC public educator & information coordinator
(401) 783-7886
lricketson@crmc.ri.gov

We encourage you to pass word along to others that might be interested in this event, and hope to see you there!"

Hey Guys.
Just making the announcement for some colleagues. If you want to debate climate change, start a new thread.

Woody,
Whatever the cause of the change, there will be impacts to the shoreline, especially low lying tombolos, susceptible to storms and sea level rise!

Oops - sorry. I was only joking around - did not mean to start the meatball rolling. I agree with the people who did well in school. I'm looking into getting some waterfront property in Hopkinton, so I might be attending.
