George Carlin died
Yesterday of heart failure at 71. His acidic commentary on life, religion and the human circus will be sorely missed. You may not have agreed with everything he said but he was a master at his craft.
7 words you can never say on television became household entertainment over the last 30 years.
RIP George and thanks for the luaghs and the thought provoking monologues!

There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process. ~Paul O'Neil, 1965

I went to see him live in Northampton about a month ago. I worried that at his age, doing what he did would seem out of sync. He was great and his age, his outfit (a sweat suit and sneakers) and his hunched over posture made the whole thing just that much more funny, interesting and over the top. So glad I went to see and hear him. So sorry he's gone. To bad.

I started listening to Carlin at an age where the last comic I should have been listening to was Carlin!
Regardless, this news really saddens me. He was truly a gifted comic that forged new ground and stood completely on his own.
I got to see him live many many times over the years and I think the greatest part of a live show was looking around when he said something really offensive. You could tell the people who came tothe show who had no idea what Carlin was all about.
I will miss him, making people laugh is truly a gift.

I started listening to him years ago on his old HBO specials and loved his brand of humor. Then, when my son started watching Thomas the Tank Engine, I realized that he was the narrator. To me, it was pretty cool that someone considered so edgy would do something for kids. He'll be missed.
If you want to have a few laughs, check out some of his well known quotes.

If you really want to see George at his best you gotta go way back to his early stuff. " Occupation Fool" and "Toledo Windowbox" Acouple of the best.

When I was on vac. last week and someo0ne told me they said they hated him because of all the crude stuff he talked about. With all the salty language he used it is often missed that he was a very thought provoking mother(^*$&$%%(%ing guy. I have to say I agree with most of his observations.
