roller wheels for wrapper
anyone have any suggestions on what to use for some smooth rolling wheels for a homemade rod wrapper, roller blade wheels seem a little bulky-- has anyone had good results with these or anything else??
Thanks

WHEELS
Mike,
do you mean the nylon wheels with the "slot" in them? I assume I get those at Lowes or the Depot?

Yes the bigger the better.
I would look around for somthing 1-1/2" dia the larger OD stops the rods from falling off as easy.
Here is a few Pic of some you should find around for about $5.

Thanks guys,
I like the wheels w/o-ring style.
Specialist- do you find that the rod jumps out of the stand if you use a powered devise? I tried the roller blade wheels -just seems a little bulky if I use a third wheel on top to lock the blank in place while "power wrapping". I think with hand turning it works great though.
Thanks again--I'll start looking for those wheels mikecc.

spec's...put a third roller on top of those two bottom ones , find away to make it so she can move up an down, as well as being able to lock it down. then u can spin like a mother an your blank won't jump off the bottom rollers,,,,,,it'll help keep the blank from spining if u take your hands off to rest.

well if you don't want to spen alot of money you can build them like mine. I went to a wood worker warehouse any one with wood supplys a mill store what ever. I bought a dozen 1 1/2 inch wooden wheels put a nylon insert from hard ware streand screwed it to my stands. I use bike tube and cut it to 3/4 ince pieces and streached them over the wheels. Wroks great for me.
