a chat would be cool, really cool.

i suggested this back in october but john said he didn't think we were all ready for it yet.

are we now, john??
-----------------------------------------

IF any of you guys have AOL or AIM we could make a chat for us all to go in once in a while---if john don't have time to make a chat.

Infact, let me go look into that further..

Actually - you might recall that the reason I said no about a chat is because of it's inherent secuirty problems. I don't want the people here getting hijacked by a chat client bomb or trojan or whatever....

I also think making you wait 15-30 seconds between posts might give us a chance to READ half of what you said the first time (that was a good natured joke BTW )

So as far as IM and stuff, people may or mat not want to participate any given time, that's why the boards are cool, you can post when you want and you don't NEED to reply.

So no chat yet...

john, i hear ya 100% but i'm just saying- not even for asking questions- just for people to talk about anything..ya know?

AOL and AIM chats are hardly hackable- punters don't even work in them anymore (if your chat sounds are off)

your the boss- but over time it would be a kewl little addition..

i could make an AOL/AIM chat if people want- i wont even go in there....i let you all have it, it's not hackable - AOL host/monitors all there chats, even private chats!!

I got ya john, nothing further.

No, we're not going to vote.

There are a lot of people I will listen to for suggestions for this site, probably 80-90% of the people. At this time, you are not one of them.

I got a great idea for a vote---how about a minimum age of 18 to post here?

Mike - that is something which is probably going to happen, with a few teens here that behave themselves being the exception to that rule.

On a parralell note, something that I've been thinking of for a few months and some ideas that WeeWee brought up today would be creating an alternate site for kids & teens that fish. I'm happy to foot the bill & set it up and run the infrastructure but I would need someone to moderate it and keep it from derailing.

That someone would need to be a class fella or fellette that can also be more tolerant than I can ...

Any thoughs or suggestions?

Oh & if I do chat at some point - it will be 18 and older...

I dunno, I know I ain't the guy for the job. I don't know if even Saltheart has the patience for it.

Um, no thanks, I already got my hands full with two other misfits that we all know and love.......one seems to be doing well....the other one, well he was coming along but blew it again....

Though I think WeeWee might be up for nomination....

John- I'd be willing to try it on a trial basis. Not sure how much moderation would be needed. I used to referee kids soccer games and found sometimes the solution to a game that was getting out of hand was to eject the coaches. We could even set up a little tackle store of used/unwanted equipment for the kidsto fight over. Email me @ teamrockon@aol.com to let me know what I'd be getting into.

If you do make a "kids corner", I'd get my son online.
He's only 14 but way more mature than some "Ahh KidSS" I've seen here. I've been watching those posts over the weekend!!!!.

John:
If it came to be I can spread the word to the MSBA juniors, might be nice for them to talk about fishing and get input from us "older" guys/gals, and be able to talk with each other in between meetings. Some are real young though and most of em' are kinda shy and don't mingle much anyway, might loosen them up a bit.

just a thought..

I like the site the way it is. Good info, nice fishing stories and good observations by seasoned striper fisherman. If we can't contol our post now, why have a chat room? This site is about striper fishing isn't it? Stop and smell the roses, you have a great site that will only get better. I love seeing the teens involved with fishing. I wish my teens were interested. But keep them supervised. Please understand what teens may find funny, may not sit so well with the adults. By the way, I would fish with any kid anytime, be happy to show them what I've learned and listen to what I could learn from them. I think it an honor to talk and read post from guys like Saltheart, johnr, habs, tattoo all the others. RESPECT IT.

My dog won't let me fish alone!
