New Computor/No Modem
Dummie that I am, when I ordered a new HP Pavillion a couple of weeks ago I never ordered a modem for it. Thinking that like my last new computor that I bought in 2001, it would have one. Ah, not so. With DSL and everything else nowadays going on with computors that is an extra add-on.
I was lucky this time when I called HP, and as we all know the guy who answered lives in Mombai, but I was lucky in that I could understand him and he was extremely helpful. Also I am savvy enough after all these years to have recognized the reason my newly installed AOL cvouldn't log on was because there was no modem. An extertnal one has been ordered that attaches to a USB port, so in a few days I'll be good to go.
Anyone else order a computor and not realize this, no modem?

I gotta agree....AOL and a Modem???
Get some kind of high speed connection, whether it be DSL, Cable, or FiOS. You will be happier

I know, I know. No cable at house, never hooked up to it. I have direct TV satelite hookup that I love. I know verizon offers high speed stuff on the phone line, but really don't need that type of hookup. When FIOS comes down the street I'll do it then but probably not sooner.

buy DSL...it's only $10/month now I think. Once you try it, you won't go back. A modem is really a waste of money nowadays... :-)
