PVD boat show this year

I bet this is going to be a depressing place this winter between last years fuel prices and the current economy in the tank these guys are hurtn to say the least.

Frankly, if they want this to be a success, it should be FREE for all exhibitors and FREE for all visitors attending the show. This is not a time to be squeezing the boating community...same goes to the fishing shows.

Anyone headed there this year?

I think I'm going to skip the Providence & Boston boat shows this year.
I have 000000 interest in the type of boats at those shows anyways !
I may make the trip up north to the Maine boat builders show though !

LETS GO BRANDON

I agree....they have way too many 19' Center Consoles that couldn't take much more than a 2' wind chop at best without taking a beating. They need A LOT more boats that can actually run in the ocean 30+'. I mentioned that to someone at the show a couple years ago and their response was that this show was aimed at boating in Narragansett bay. I told him that is a shame as there is a lot more water outside the bay that is boatable and I thought RI was the "ocean" state, not the bay state. That said, this year they are going to have a hard time selling anything that requires disposable income. I bet a lot of vendors bail or the show is cut way back The cost to do one of those shows almost requires you selling some boats.

I am already hearing that some vendors are considering bailing from the RI fishing show in april. I hope most of them make the show. That was developing into a nice display of fishing stuff.

The PVD boatshow pales in comparison to the Boston boat show. I am willing to bet both show are sparse compared to the previous years. With the current state of the economy I dont know many who will buy a new boat. FWIW- There are amazing used deals out there. Why buy new and take a depreciation hit when you can get a 1 or 2 old boat for cheap.

I have no interest in going to the city(s) anymore.
No interest in haggling parking.
No interest in dealing with salesmen.
No interest in a new boat at this time.
Looking wouldbe nice, but pay to recieve their advertising? Think not.

I've a interest in a boat,,, but not going to buy from a basketball court. I want to see it at least floating.

"Sportsman" show? I don't know yet, but I doubt it. Just don't like the city. All 'tatoes, no meat anymore.

A nice Albemarle or OceanMaster jackshaft diesel would be great.
Them things sip fuel and are very stable for the size.

But, until there is more certainty in the economy, in particular regarding employment, I am not going to any show or purchase something other than my current 21' CC

I'm planning to go. I like to grab a beer, and at least walk around talking boating and fishing. It helps me pass the winter. Plus I'd like to see the new Albemarle 288. I also want to talk to the Buzzards Bay Anglers Club and see about joining them.

I went to the Maine show about 3 years back, lots of Down East Boats. The 26 General Marine is a hot looking boat.

Not sure I'll be heading to any of the local boat shows. I like looking but the prices for new are getting insane.

Thanks for the info Whiplash. I work overnights so I have to make plans for someone to cover until I get there.

I think the only way 955 of the dealers are going to make any money is if they skip it completely ;;

Why go to a strip.joint with no money
