Jointed Lure Storage??
If you guys are like me , bringing a giant jointed pikie or any large jointed plug is a problem. Where to put it when rock hopping. Bag? no bag I know will handle 10+" plugs. I 've come up with crazy idea of a 2 piece plug. Why not where the joint is make this detachable. Now both halfves fit into plug bag. Realistically w/ 8" tubes thats a mighty long plug ,16" . Now comes the part where how to make a strong quick disconnect. Taking the word in context "Quick" and think of a Breakaway/Fast clip to attach the 2 parts. I figure I've caught some nice fish w/o a hitch. Heck if they hold up to the pressure of a fish pulling I don't see any difference. It probably require resessing the wire loops to keep the joint too far apart. I haven't tried this yet but I will make up a mock up using the 50 + 80 lb. clips. I also see the new fast clips have a section that protrudes away from the wire. This might also facilitate even an easier assembly. I may be in another world with this thread but it's winter and I love being in the dungeon finding my sanity during this dismal winter season.

Neat idea, I'd be interested to know how this works. I'm planning to build and fish some of these plugs for next year, but as you point out I've not figured out how to carry them.

Couldn't you just use split rings in the middle? that would keep the jgap between the 2 halves from getting too long.

I just put my large jointed plugs in one of the end tubes and let the metal lip end stick out of the corner of my bag. You can lay them down in the outside pocket of an aquaskinz medium bag too.

Horizontally in front of the tubes.

I've been doing both laying and hanging the plugs in the bag. But w/ larger pikies and swimmers 12" they don't seem secured in the bag. I put Stezko's jointed in the bags Ok but my custom biggies are tough.
