PISC 2/21/09

Who's going? I'll be there.

Plum Island Surfcasters
Annual Fundraiser & Junior Program Support Show
Fishing Show
Featuring
Gene Bourque & Zeno Hromin

Gene Bourque

Gene Bourque grew up Mystic, Connecticut, across the river from the Mystic Seaport. Moving to Falmouth, Massachusetts in 1973, he began fishing and fell in love with the beaches, jetties, estuaries and rips of Cape Cod and the Islands from Cuttyhunk to Provincetown. A regular contributor to On The Water magazine, Gene is now the editor after having worked in tackle shops on the Cape for many years. He has taught fly-fishing and fly tying, been a shore guide, and gives seminars on Cape Cod fishing techniques and locations for fishing clubs and at outdoor shows throughout the northeast.

Seminar: Soft Plastics for Stripers - The latest and most effective techniques in rigging and presentation.

1. Rigging soft plastics to fish anywhere in the water column - top to bottom!
2. Presentation - Angler control makes all the difference.
3. Application - Which soft plastics are right in a variety of conditions.
4. Tricks to increase effectiveness and durability of soft plastics.

Zeno Hromin

Zeno Hromin is a veteran surfcaster and has won numerous awards in club competition and in competing in New York Surf Fishing Contest. He is a very conservation minded surfcaster who releases almost all of his fish each season . Recently, he has became a recipient of 2007 Grampa Old Spook Memorial Award in recognition of his willingness to help others and also for his involvement in fundraising for Send-A-Kid Fishing Program. Zeno is a member of New York State Outdoor Writers Association and he resides with his family in Westbury, New York.

I'll be there all day this time. I did enjoy bringing my daughter last time, but this time I'l be able to stay for both seminars plus the Chowder. Both presenters, I hear are great. Great time to support a great club.
TDF, are there any lure or tackle companies this year like Pt. Jude or Salty? I saw Bigfish Larry was regretfully not going to be presenting his wares. I like to see what types of new artwork these gents have been up to.
Look forward to seeing those I know and meeting others. C-Ya there.

Salty and Pt. Jude are making a return trip. MBBA has a table, You will also be able to pick up a copy of "The Fisherman of Plum Island" as James Waldron will also have a table.

Mike will have his Joppa Eels and Don will be selling his plugs and some artwork.

and there will be a huge raffle table as well.....got a nice donation from Habs Custom Plugs for the table and Larry is sending a few surprises for the table as well
