Who will introduce the Cod, Flounder, Fluke, Tog, Tuna, Largemeouth, Bill!!!!

A lot of talk about the MA S-B Bill is missing a big point. Before the worthy discussions on any regulations proposal how about delaing with the fact that the Legilature is not built to manage fisheries or any wildlife.

1...If there is a biological or man made situation that calls for emergency action then the legislature will not be able to act fast enough to get something immediately in place.

2...Once we pass one management bill every single species is open to a bill of this type and every little wierd group will push their agenda. Development of politics and bills is a completely different system than developing regulations under the current way we make fisheries management regulations.

3...The extreme enviros that are willing to fund an infrustructure of lawyers, lobbyists and professionals are going to eat us alive if this is the future of species management.

....just a comment from someone that actually attends hearings and pays attention

Nice thinking. No only will the Mass legislature make fisheries management decisions (something the fisheries management people have a difficult enough time doing) but now Mass Audobon and CLF will have ADDITIONAL influence in fisheries management.

The Feds will continue to manage the striped bass fishery. The fishery managers will continue to adjust the state's fishing regulations to meet the federal requirements.
The public, through their system of government, should and hopefully will be able to decide how they want their public resource used within the state of Massachusetts.
What about that seems wrong to you? And why?

Please. The Conservation Law Foundation works through the judicial system, not the legislature, and they have done more to increase fish stocks than any other organization in the state.....by FAR from what I can see. What have they done that makes you, John, so negative about them?
