Happy Birthday to my little honey!
She's 40 years old this year and as Stifftip say's she's "still fishin"!
We took more bass last year in this old skiff than we had in the last five so she is got more and better things yet to come.
She has taken us to Cuttyhunk in November, rounded Monomoy several times, dragged up the beach at Monomoy for nights on end, was turned upside down on the beach there while we sat under her to weather a horrendous day and a half storm, launched from the Race Point surf and been caught in seas a 20 footer would think twice about and last season one day miles off the Cape Cod Bay shore brought home in a fog so thick you couldn't see the front of her bow and we made it in before bigger boats with radar. The ghost of some of the greats still ride with me in her on still mornings while bass break all around us and they smile as we glide along the endless flats chasing dark shadows ahead of us.
Shes caught more bass than 80 percent of the boats she fishes with and has fished with, I love the little old biddy.
Happy 40th Baby, your the best!

That's incredible! Happy B-Day! Cheers to many more happy days with her! Ahhhhh if only she could talk and tell us some of those stories. Keep them coming Flap, I really enjoyed reading the brief glimpses you wrote about. What was your favorite trip with her to date?

I bought that same boat in 1972. 14' Mirrocraft with a 25 hp Johnson Seahorse motor. Wish I still had it. On the plus side, the guy I sold it to still has it and I do get to see her every now and then. Still get to fish from her too. very tough boat.

1969 MirroCraft Deep Fisherman, 18 hp 2 stroke Nissan electric start Motor ( best outboard motor I have ever owned) 2--1/2 days on 6.6 gals if by myself.
In 2003 I ripped her apart, repaint in and out new floor new seats plus added a fishfinder, compass and put her on a new trailer.

69 was a good year! I'm turning 40 this year so I have kind of a karma thing going on right now with this skiff! I'm really proud of her. I wish I could say the same for myself!

Flap, Don't ever give that one up. Been getting a 37 year old whaler ready myself. Nothing like a boat that doesn't cost you much to run. Looks really nice.

We use a cut in half windshield fluid bottle for #1 where after a courstesy flush is standard operating proceedure over the side and if nature has a more urgent call we put you ashore and you take it from there.
