First Keeper Striper of 2009
Spent 2 hours today in the fog and rain of Buzzards Bay in the midst of a feeding frenzy of mostly schoolies but did manage to put a 30 incher (10 lbs) in the box for diner.
When we docked we were immediately checked by MA Environmental Police and the fishing survey takers. We even forgot to take pictures.

I guess today was a good one to break the schneid.
Nice 33-34", silvery and pink, Canal, released.

My black lab and I were out there with you. Got one keeper for Mothers Day dinner. Where did you launch? I didn't see any EPO's when I returned. Funny how the rain stopped and and the skies cleared when it was time to return.

I sure is nice to get your first keeper of the season early, so you don't fret about "When will I get my keeper?"
I was Down in Duxbury on 5/2 & 5/3 for the AM tides and I got mine (30") on Saturday, and my friend Shawn got the same on Sunday.
We also managed a few smaller fish, as well as snagging a couple of pogies in the process.
I am somewhat perplexed at the lack of schoolies this year.
It seems like we went from 0 - keeper in no time flat, without any real "spring blitz".
