Tagged fish.
I got my first tagged striper this weekend, a chunky 41". I got the number and a length, no weight and called it in. How many of you guys have caught tagged fish?

I've got 10 or so. The last one was from the ALS. I sent it in and called 8 months later and they said they had no record of it. 4 months later they sent me something. HRF is real good with their data and quick to send you your booty. Congrat's. I love finding the tag on a fish.

I caught one 2 years ago in the CCC. Had a green tag on it. Called the #, sent in the tag and they sent me a certificate and a check for $125. Not bad for a day of fishing.

Got the first one last year. Mine was tagged off of south NJ about a year or so prior and didn't grow much...less than 1/2 ". (I got my off gay head). Also it looked to be sore around the tag area. I measured the fish and pulled the tag just a little and it came out....then I let it go.
They send me a "certificate of participation" and a hat that does not fit well.
I got some tags myself this year and plan to tag 10 fish.

Most of the ones I got were from smaller fish that were tagged in the Hudson. Most of them were caught in the same spot. The biggest tagged fish was around 30 inches. A 41 inch tagged fish is AWESOME!!!!!!!

I caught two one day in May a few years back in a cove in Warwick. They were 25"-27" or so. Both had been tagged in the Thames the previous December. Probably by that guy who tags like a gazillion in there I saw on some show. Had another one at Matunuck one April that was about 9" long. I left my then 9 y/o to guard the fish while I sprinted for some snippers. As I was running back a wave comes up and bye bye fish.... I told my son it was probably worth $1000. After that every fish was greeted by "does he have a tag"?

I caught a tagged striper a few years ago. I carefully measured the fish and released it. After sending in the info, I got a hat and document showing the fish's length when it was tagged. Turns out it was an inch "longer" when it was tagged the previous year than when I caught it. Somebody messed up.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

I've caught a couple of tagged fish ... one did not look overly healthy ... it was sore and the moss/slime on the tag was growing down the tag into the fish, it looked a bit puffy around the area.
When I lived in Miami for five years, a local guide tagged a bonefish right off Key Biscayne on the Cape Florida flat ... it's the most northern flat in Biscayne Bay ... next to the stilt houses you see in the movies and television shows of Miami ... the next morning, it was caught down off Long Key ... about 50 miles or so south of where the fish was released ... that's a fast trip for a fish in one night.
