Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping this was an across the board thing when I saw the title. Since every piece of AS merch is insane.

I see they have adjusted their price from "Trip to a Prison Shower without lube" and are now providing the lube.

Almost but better than ...

This isn't Walmart class gear hence not Walmart class price. Nice to see the price come down a bit.

When does this take effect? Also wondering what the reason is for the pricing changes.

Some reasons to not attack a company that just reduced the prices of high end gear.

Aquaskinz donates to clubs and causes we on this site support all the time.

Aquaskinz has donated directly to this site many times.

Last year Aquaskinz reduced the price on the regular product line because sales numbers had increased to the point better contracts could be negotiated, thus better prices for the customers.

Now they are doing it a second time and right out of the box the negativity begins. The world needs more therapists!!!!

This is why the fishing Industry does not support the recreational fishing community in ways other industries support their customer communities.

Examples of actual situation and companies that refer to these type of internet comments provided upon request.

Compare Aquakinz main product line pricing to Canyon and VS and you will learn that in many cases Aquaskinz is the same or even cheaper.

Compare the Elite line to Hunter or some of the other semi/custom bags and you will find Aquaskinz to be a lot less expensive.

BP,

I'm not trying to get into a pissing contest about prices or quality - the standard AS line is very good. If AS's motivation for decreasing prices was to provide better prices for their customers and not because their pricing in their standard product line is significantly higher than alternatives, they should be commended.

However, after looking at the AS website just now to see how they sell them and the one time I've looked at something from the EHP series in person, I come to ask myself "Why?" Why would someone elect to pay up to 3.5x times as much for gear with the same practical application?

Aside from 'military-grade ballistic material', what are the benefits of buying the $175 'Elite Hunter Pro Series - Double Barrel' as opposed to the $60 'Small 'Tall' Lure Bag'?

*Edit*
I'm not attacking the company or being negative - just a critical consumer *and* happy Aquaskinz product user. But even in a good economy, I don't see the value.

Obviously you were not asking me but I'll chime in on this one. I agree that it's alot but the durability factor and the fact that these bags are manufactured in the US to me deserves a higher price tag. I wouldn't pay $175 for that bag but I'm somewhat tempted by the single and double row bags with their new price tags. The larger tubes are also a nice feature but I'm not sure that can be figured into any price increase.

scott, there's a police and fire supply shop near your house on 3A. check out pistol holster belts there. just don't get one with velcro on the inside, it'll tear up your wetsuit.

IMO the wading belt and plier sheeth are well worth the money. The quality on those 2 products alone are above and beyond the comp.

One word "durability", Some guys fish weekends, some guys fish one day a week and then some guys like me fish 365 days a year take away a couple for sore throats and 105 fever and even then we still manage to crall out of bed and make a few cast. For me paying a high price for a product that holds up to my needs is worth it. The last thing I need is for something to go wrong with any of my gear. I think thats the diffrence between the $60 product and the $175 product. For some that $60 bag is more then perfect, but for others we need a little more. Im happy to see the prices come down, cause that gives many other fisherman the chance to up grade in there arsenal. This Elite line isn't something that You use and throw away, this is some thing that will last years, and probably will be handed down to your kids and theres.

RoyL, I completely see your point and it makes sense for the career fisherman or someone that's out 300+ days a year fishing, rock hoping half of those times.

I searched around the Aquaskinz site (although briefly) for the one thing that would fully justify the price and would even get me to consider buying something from that line - A lifetime, no questions asked repair/replacement warranty.

I'm not talking about the typical "manufacturing defect" type of warranty. For someone like you, you're obviously going to be more extreme with your gear than the average person, thus unconventional damage will happen.

hopefully not too many shops get screwed on this because they have existing merchandise that they paid the original price for.

My guess, with this %$%$%$%$ty economy, they can't be selling much gear @ their prices !!!

Ronnie...It actually works the other way...the more product the company sells the more negotiating and buying power the company has when it comes to materials. The larger the lot of materials the cheaper the materials can be purchased. It is less expensive to buy sail cloth by the bulk roll than by square footage lots...ort of like buying carpet or even fishing line.

Johnny D My honest answer is that in the same application I have no idea. I do not use nor do I own any of the EHS line. I have all of the main product line and that line is fine for my very heavy use. My old style double row bag is going on four or five years of heavy use, it's beat up with a lot of character bt my Bassmaster Needles ad Hawghunter Pencils are still safe and secure.

I do know that with at least three custom/semi custom mfgs making bags that go for as much as $600 plus dollars there is definately a market for the super high end gear.

Prices on the skinz website still reflect the old pricing so if someone places an order now they can assume that their cc will be charged based the new pricing?

Maybe an obvious question, but, do the pictures mean that you can actually fit 18 "regular" 2" Aquaskinz tubes into the large Elite bag and 11 2" Aquaskinz tubes into the medium Elite bag? If so is it a very tight fit? It doesn't explain those pictures anywhere on the Aquaskinz site...
