When Your Time Comes........

I see more and more fellow fishermen commenting on having their remains cremated when they pass from this life and having their ashes spread across the surf at a favorite beach or backwater so they may spend eternity at a place they loved! How many of you have these same plans???

I have for quite awhile! My wife Angie knows that when my time comes (hopefully not for about 40 more years as planned.....but one never knows) my ashes are to be spread at the water line on Ballston Beach in Truro on a dropping tide, preferably at sunrise or sunset in the fall. My hopes are the waves will wash up and carry my remains out into the ocean I loved and perhaps the fish will carry me to places I have only dreamed of fishing.......someday. Not today.

More likely a seal will swim by and crap on you.

Heard about one guy who had his ashes scattered over Vineyard sound by two friends in an airplane. Unfortunately they all blew back into the plane and guy's faces.

I have plans for it as well, but im not going to spot burn till the time comes . There are a few places that many of us feel close to "god" or whatever you want to call it when fishing. Im not religious but i have some spirituality and i guess being close to "god" is about the best way i can describe how i feel when fishing certain places. A place you want to spend eternity.

Everything is better on the rocks.

i have the same plan...if all goes right (as opposed to sitting in a urn in some closet) i'd like mine scattered off cuttyhunk, in the west branch of the penobscott, and in narragansett bay.

Didn't ya KNOW ?

you can have your ashes compressed into a diamond these days...

but personally....
i much prefer the old style small Viking boat where your laid to rest on top
of a big pile of sticks sent out on calm seas.... then the best
S-B Archers can shoot flaming arrows at the boat until it catches fire
and everyone gets to watch the glowing vessel ..... finally sink .

ps. don't forget to take yer vitamins for the 40 more years.

I told my family if I'm ever at the point where I'm confined to a wheel chair and can't care for myself I want to be taken out to stellwagon and have a tuna rod strapped to me in the chair so if I hook up it will be me or the fish.
The rod is sitting down cellar waiting to be used again and hopefully I'll get to use it a few times between now and then. Alot of people say they want to go while having sex; I think sex is overated and I want to go while fishing. I have no wife or children so I probably won't get the choice after I'm gone and my resting place is already purchased so it will probably be the worms that win ... I hope someone gets to fish them worms.

In 2060, I'd like my freshly charred ashes scattered into Charlestown Breachway on a dropping tide in early June.

I don't believe it matters, meaning when you die you are no longer in body or ash's.I honestly think it maybe meaningful for the one who has survived and is deeply grieving and feel that they should put you were"you belong" at the spot where you were at peace.

Don't get me wrong I think that it's pretty neat and all to be spread out over your favorite haunts but your not really there and why bother.

Live bait sharp hooks and timing is all you need

A friend of ours lost her son in HS, due to a freak baseball accident. After the funeral was over and the shock wore off they looked at the costs. When her husband passed on she took a trip around the world with his ashes and spread them as she went. I think the cost was less.

Now that's just not nice. People that are Oakland fans are already masochists that probably cut themselves while sitting in a dark room listening to R&B Breakup songs. They don't need you pointing out that their team has a win percentage almost as bad as Big Papi's 2009 batting average.

i was thinking about

the highly specialized S-B mortuary
with custom packages especially for fishermen

think of a custom shaped like a plug
casket

that would be cool with a big ole danny lip on it

I will check out Karls party and the Grumpy one's and then come up with my own

But I was thinking along the same line Making a lure out of some sort of horse pill with my ashes inside and make a bunch or lures so friends would cast them out and they would keep casting until the pill is gone or you catch a fish (I stole this idea)

Plus I already told my wife to burn me in my boat and she agree's She liked the boat idea a lot ...LOL
